Tharisa have just put out what appears to be a very bullish trading statement, although it is made up of a load of 'mumbo jumbo' (is that expression now politically incorrect???)

Hopefully will boost feeling about SLP!

Feel free to post if you want.

Right so Ruthenium was only up 3.8% today, Rhodium off a tad.

There really is very little information out there that is recent and up to date on the Ruthenium market. A small comment in this link.

or a nice little supply contract for your PR promotion (or whatever)outfit
that your 'socially distanced' relative has started...
Tax man of course gets his bit .. but that is the 'Sacrifice'

risa5 : What they have is a non-rechargeable — but recyclable — battery. The cost of remaking the magnesium paste for each cycle, along with all the recycling logistics, would greatly exceed the cost of recharging the present lithium-ion batteries, before we even consider the inefficiency of the associated hydrogen fuel cells, the consumption of de-ionized water, and the capital and maintenance costs of the cell-swapping-robot stations.

It's an idea that will raise funding for the salaries of brilliant boffins with a PhD in electrochemistry and a grade F in GCSE economics for many years, from politicians who can claim they have done their bit (i.e. have spent their $billions) in battling the climate-crisis dragon.

Interactive Investor's Technical Analyst Alastair Strang :

"Next, above 151p should prove capable of bringing a visit to an initial 162p. If exceeded, our longer-term secondary calculates at 218p. Above such a level, things are necessarily vague, thanks to the circled gaps, and we shall prefer revisit to run the numbers again. We’ve chosen to show a long-term 336p, but the reality of such ambition almost needs guesswork." GLA

German researchers develop hydrogen paste fuel
Tue 16 February 2021 12:42

(Sharecast News) - Researchers at Germany's Fraunhoder Institute have developed a hydrogen paste that some pundits believe may revolutionise the industry.

According to Business Insider, the new technology works on the basis of cartridges that can be replaced, leaving drivers with only a water tank needing to be refuelled.

The driving range offered by the paste is reportedly comparable - when not greater - to that of gasoline and the technology may also be applicable for use in drones.

"POWERPASTE stores hydrogen in a chemical form at room temperature and atmospheric pressure to be then released on demand," institute research associate Dr. Marcus Vogt said.

The product, which was a magnesium base, reportedly had ten times the energy storage density of batteries.

A pilot plant with an annual production of four tonnes of POWERPASTE was scheduled to come online later in 2021 at the Fraunhofer Project Center for Energy Storage and Systems in the German city of Braunschweig.

Hydrogen power is on the up. Often thought of as a less convenient and efficient alternative to battery-electric vehicles, it is increasingly seen as a vital part of the modern energy mix.

‘Green hydrogen’ can be generated using renewable energy, providing a clean source of fuel for industry, homes and transport.

RabidDog.

RB I have no problem with your 2% of revenue on a historical basis. However the operative matter is the price rise and the increasing rate of the price rise.

As at mid Feb the price was $320 and had been for some considerable time. It started to rise with delays between rises. We now over the past ten days have the pace, frequency and size of rises increasing.

Take a look at Rh when it was only $700/Toz the rapidity with which it got to $29,000 was startling.

Whether Ru can repeat that depends on the market for Ru.
Ru is an obscure industrial metal, as far as I know it does not have an investment following. Therefore the determinants of price action will be the price elasticity of demand of the uses of the metal, whether it has substitutes for its uses and lastly whether there is the potential for supply to be ramped up.

The latter point I believe is NO. Russia produces PMGs however the share of Ru in the Russian basket is only as I understand it 2%.

In all this there is another question that needs to be asked. Are there potential future uses?

I do not know whether forecasters are saying Ru will be in shortage or surplus however I believe a lot can be read from the price action.

I do think I need to reiterate, Ru is not an investment metal, there are no vaults stuffed full of the stuff.

All aboard, the train is leaving the station, toot toot!

Ff..Ru has never been more than 2%by revenue, indeed usually less than 1. For that q3 they did say they had to supplement the feed to maintain volume which affected the basket %..however that figure does seem ‘out of the norm’ even given this. Hope your right as it would be a pleasant bonus...not bought into the Ru aspect yet though.

On the question of the relevance of a substancial rise in the price of Ruthenium which we seem to be starting to see.

................................................................

(2) Revenue (6E) for Q3, before adjustments is $59.2 million (6E prill split is Pt 47%, Pd 17%, Rh 9%, Au 0.2%, Ru 21%, Ir 5%)

...............................................................

As I understand it from the above, in terms of mass Ruthenium constitutes more than 20% of Sylvania's Noble metal output. I use the term Noble metal since Gold is in there and gold is not a Platinum group metal.

If I am right then some posting on this thread need to reajust their thinking.
