The Guardian article (OMG I hope no one saw me reading the Guardian!!!) doesn't state any figures for thefts.

My hunch is that they are very low and it is just hubristic journalism. Which is what one would expect from that rag.

When catalytic converters start getting nicked from people you know, it's obviously a crime on the rise. Interesting article about the rise in this type of theft again, driven by the high PGM prices.
Hybrid cars are the most targeted because their catalytic converters contain a higher concentration of precious metals, and are generally less corroded. These are popular targets:
Honda Jazz, Toyota Prius, Toyota Auris and Lexus RX.

Also, this Sprott interview (shared by someone else on lse) is interesting. Of the c8million oz supply of Platinum annually, 25% is from recycled sources, the rest is mined. For Palladium, supply is 10m oz, with 30% recycled and 70% mined.

I'm not sure theft will add too much to the supply chain; it's more an interesting symptom of the demand for these metals. The demand side is likely to remain stronger than supply for some time. Happy days.

Decent rise for Rhodium today, the first for a few days.

Ruthenium is $500 today, JM price.

This is not yet wrong, but given the recent price movements in Ruthenium I think it will be shortly.

Not sure this agrees FF

hxxps://www.heraeus.com/media/media/hpm/doc_hpm/precious_metal_update/forecast_1/forecast_2021/Heraeus_Precious_Forecast_2021.pdf

The market is estimated to move into a temporary surplus this year as a recovery in supply from South Africa is boosted by the processing of stocks. Ruthenium has not followed iridium and rhodium prices higher but that remains possible while refined output is constrained. The price is forecast to range between $250/oz and $500/oz.

Right, so I have spent a little bit of time on the Johnson Matthey site looking at their price charts and tables.

I cannot find a price fall for Ruthenium over the last few years. When the price is marked up it stays up (famous last word). The chart for Ruthenium is looking very healthy to my eye.

Though Ruthenium is lowly priced atm it is a very significant proportion by mass of SLPs PGM production on the 6E basis, over double that of Rhodium.
Money wise at this price it is of little consequence however if the price keeps on rising......

I do not know why the price is rising.

FWIIW as at a little while back Ruthenium had posted up two jumps up today for a total rise of around 7.7%. :)
I have yet to see a fall in the price of Ruthenium (they will have happened in the past).

Five Aim-listed companies get full marks on the small cap tests. These include Sylvania Platinum (SLP), which is another play on precious metals demand and possible inflation. There is also Panoply Holdings (TPX), a technology services company with segments in consulting, software development and automation.
● Perfect marks for the Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB1) is interesting. The housing market has been strong which is good for business but there are plenty of uncertainties to navigate.
● Impax Asset Management (IPX) and Ergomed (ERGO), which provides

Li recycling will surely be a factor too Freddie?

Car batteries should be easy to track to be reclaimed (unlike other Li-I batteries) high cost recycling atm, but it is being worked on.
