So who is the tier 1 supplier to A-M to whom SCE supply the discs?

Looking very good online - I can't even buy 1k shares, but I can sell 50,000 at 16.05p so the demand is out there.

Kevin could (imo) have been stronger - Message received full validation of our discs - Now to get the others on board and then to go after the new electic cars as they will (imo) still need emergency braking systems and SCE offers a very significant weight advantage and works from cold.

""Arguably of equal importance however, is the strategic implications of these two contract awards; confirming that once we have a position with a customer, we can (in the case of OEM 6) grow from that base and/or (in the case of Koenigsegg) maintain that position as they change models. This capability, reflecting both the customer's experience of the product and our supply chain performance, will be crucial in becoming a significant automotive supplier as we further develop production relationships with the mainstream OEMs""

Agreed Rivaldo - "near term" is a new term in the lexicon of SCE announcements - gives the impression of being really close. Dare we dream? SCE RNS texts usually have very carefully chosen words.
I expect the share price to perhaps at least get back up above 16p today maybe even 18p. Lots of people watching this share. A Friday announcement as well - don't usually expect them. With the sun out and this news - more spring in my pedal as a I cycle into work this morning. Fils

Terrific news - at the least OEM 6's confidence in granting this contract is validation of SCE's capabilities and prospects. Nice to see the £300k compensation payment too.

Plus a new Koenigsegg contract in the bag.

And OEM5 news is expected in the "near term". That has to be a matter of only months away.

The confidence and transparency is great to see:

"Discussions with German OEMs continue with positive progress being made and the Board remain confident of announcing developments on German OEM 5 in the near future."

""Moreover we expect this announcement to be the start of further positive news flow, in the near term, as we look to conclude current discussions with German OEM 5."

Well, is that a rabbit pulled out of the hat ? It is not yet OEM5, but is still pretty good news. £8m revenue is real, live, revenue.

There is not a comment on whether this definitively makes SCE cash positive.

Well done the patient !!

Longshanks I just need to take you back to your 20th June post in which you suggested that I might be treating SCE like some nag. As you well know I am a long term holder of SCE and as such am more inclined to think that one day SCE will prove to everyone that it is a thoroughbred of a Company - hopefully an example of what Phil Oakley describes as a "quality company" - one capable of compounding shareholders' investment year after year. However even a thoroughbred needs to be shown the whip if it is to get its nose over the line first. The "whip" in our case is for us to get a little bit tetchy, a little bit impatient and a whole lot challenging and critical in our approach and discussions about and with the Company.

I find some irony when I think back to our wager about the race track car contract announcement last year - you went short to my long if I remember correctly. Whatever our interests are aligned - we both want SCE to be a success - and we both must surely agree the long awaited OEM contract has been too long in the waiting. Fils

No Oem will want to depend on a single source supplier for Carbon Ceramic brakes
Brembo being part owned by BMW will be anathema to the likes of VW and Mercedes. I do not like the wait but I like the odds

I have it on good authority that Porsche are keen to have the option of sourcing callipers for their PCCBs from manufacturers other than Brembo.

I have intimated in the past that SCE is a Bridesmaid and Porche and other Deutche manufacturers will stck with Brembo. They will use it as a threat to Brembo - of well we have an alternative - sharpen your pencil.

I think we have to look at other markets - and I know that aircraft have been mentioned beofre, but is this a possible opportunity?

Rolls-Royce has agreed to buy the electric aerospace arm of Siemens, a move that could enable the take-off of electrification in the sector.
“We believe that pure electric, or all-electric, propulsion will power smaller aircraft in the foreseeable future, while larger aircraft will rely upon hybrid electric solutions that combine electrification with evolutions of the gas turbine,” he adds.

So if you want to drop weight then we could be part of the answer.

I still hold (but not adding)

Well, here is my thought Paul.

While ST has shown some promises, they lack what Brembo/SGL has, which is calipers, OEM's want turn key solutions, they do not want to source calipers from one company, in this case, Brembo has the most knowledge in mass producing high performance fixed calipers, and then source rotors from elsewhere.

I feel one of the biggest issue of their approach for Porsche is, they want to prove to Porsche they can do it, but what about the calipers? majority of Porsche's calipers are produce by Brembo right now, do you think Brembo will sit there and do nothing? it is a question that I hope we can get some answers soon, as 992 already enter production, as well as new Panamera, and Cayenne, while the Taycan is new, it has been in development for a while, that means the brakes supplier has already being locked.

If it has to wait for 993, then that's another 6 to 7 years from now.

Hi Spookies, I believe that is no longer the case, Dunlop Aerospace was split up a while back after 2004, their Aerospace focus is now on military airplanes with a partner, in Ohio I believe, some have rough ideas what it is, but I can't speculate on that as I don't know enough.

However, I do know the contract is somewhat very restrictive, as they agreed for their Ohio partner to have exclusive for airplanes under certain amount of weight.

Just been reading through some historic posts. Is the deal with Dunlop Aerospace still active.

Financial Times; May 01, 2004

Surface Transforms, the Cheshire-based producer of high performance carbon ceramic products, has raised £2.7m through a placing at 70p a share in order to accelerate development.

The company, which is advised by John East, last year signed deals with Dunlop Aerospace, one of the world's leading suppliers of aircraft braking systems, and Roxel, a division of BAE Systems that supplies motors for rockets.

The placing - taken up by institutions including Gartmore and Rathbone - is the first fundraising by the company since it moved from Ofex to Aim in 2002.

The company said it was well placed to achieve further penetration of the aircraft braking market and was working with a European automotive braking supplier to develop brake discs and pads for cars.

This isn't a horse race Fils, and ST isn't some nag.I like a quiet board. We are all waiting and without news there is little to speculate on. Paris air show maybe....but not much on before the Frankfurt motor show.

At least the few sellers that are around are getting 15p for their shares.
Seems the hubbub that was building last week on this bulletin board has melted away as quickly as it came. Has everyone got bored or are you all watching currently more interesting stocks? From the 7th May RNS and the words of Kevin Johnson "Surface Transforms continues to believe that it will be able to announce positive developments on programmes with OEM 5 and the new model at OEM 6 within the next few months." I'm thinking a few is more than two - could be four or five. I think we won't hear anything until September. Go on SCE prove me wrong! Fils

A few sells today. I feel as if I may have poured cold water on a speculative bubble with my last post. If there are people in the know buying - the buying will be sustained and relentless as news spreads. The volumes haven't got significant yet - when we are over 0.5 million every day for a week we may be able to point to a new buying trend. Fils
