Ok AngerSharkz, we will agree to disagree I’m not going to start getting personal here, or tell you what you think as you have to me.

Catching a falling knife is an age old investment quote, not something I came up with, to describe the risks sometimes present when continually buying a dropping share. There would be no problem if I came on here saying buy more at 90p, 80p, 70p and now 67p, but because I question things it is a problem. I’m not describing Sureserve as such a situation, because none of us know for sure, but I am open minded to question all eventualities, even when I’m biased to wanting this company to do well.

All the best to you anyway. I hope we can all do well here in the future. Take care

rj777 - I couldn’t care less about how you think or what you do? If you want to own stock that you have doubts over that’s up to you?

And you’ll find it was you that commented on people catching a falling knife…..and that’s you describing your own stock lol.

I’m very comfortable here and I’ll be purchasing more when my funds will allow. If you want to panic and follow the market that’s up to you.

You’re telling me things about myself now. “Apparently own”, “you find very little reason to be invested here”, “you’re losing sleep over 5% margins”.

You seem intent on telling me how to think and what to do, and seem very triggered at me sharing an opinion on an open forum.

It doesn’t offend me, I just find it bizarre that you comment on a forum for a stock you apparently own but yet you find very little reason to be invested here…..as you point out on a weekly basis.

You’re losing sleep over 5% margins?….the company has stated that it’s on track to meet expectations in January. The visible order book is loaded and the cash pile is increasing.

If you want to follow the market then sell your stock? There’s 1000’s of others for you to invest in.

I bought this stock because of the fundamentals, I doubt management now due to certain decisions, as im sure others do to, and I’ve always had a small worry about 5% margins.

I’m not telling others what to do, Im voicing my own concerns on a forum, as everyone can. Im sorry that im not saying all positive things, and if any concerns may offend you.

When a stock is in decline it’s not always the case that it’s a bargain. That’s all, that’s my point. I don’t buy or sell on intuition either.

It seems like any concerns shared on here really offend some, who just want to constantly hear the positives.

rj777 - As I stated in a previous post, you doubt the fundamentals and you don’t particularly like the direction of the business…..yet you hold stock here…..

Probably best not to comment on the actions of others here when you’re not prepared to act on your own intuition.

It’s clearly not a case of northern rock here is it? I think there’s a big difference between the financial debacle or 2008 and the price drifting down a few pence in a bear market.

Best of luck with your hold.

I’m already committed in terms of what I’m willing to here. There’s always a limit, you can’t keep endlessly adding/topping up, and sometimes the market knows more than we do. If there is a problem with any company others will know first. Hence the saying catching a falling knife. I remember Northern Rock etc.

Not everything is fundamentally perfect with Sureserve. I’ve already said many times about management communication, the dividend pull, and 5% profit margins leave little room for error.

We are all shareholders who want the same thing, but you have to consider the positives and negatives as you see them. I’ve been a little suspicious since the dividend U-turn. I hope all my concerns are wrong, I’ve been wrong plenty of times before!

rj777 - Regarding management promoting this and putting more out in the city - I agree with you. I think as a business it’s not very communicative, especially in terms of investor relations and it could certainly be improved…̷0;..

But apart from that, there’s not a great deal not to like about this stock.

If you agree that this is a solid business I would find it a bit odd that you think that people picking this stock up on share price weakness is catching a falling knife?

If the market is discounting these shares and you think this business is fundamentally sound……buy more? While the shares are cheap?

That’s what the stock market is about….if you think the market has it wrong, which it very often does, take advantage of it…..it’s how money’s made and lost.

AngerSharkz: yes that is correct between those two set time scales, but is no longer the case. Therefore that argument can’t be pushed anymore, and taking a longer term view over the course of the year the performance is not robust. I brought this up as it was one of the things cited by Peter Smith in response to an investor email: that the share price has outperformed the market. It’s my belief he should be doing more to promote the Sureserve business, as like you say it is one of the few with increasing EPS, revenue etc. What’s not to promote?

It shows how important investor relationships are, if people don’t know about the business they can’t invest in it. Management have to been seen more via various channels - as other similar sized companies are.

I hold other shares where management are more proactive, and it attracts investors.

I’m of the belief, like most others, that this share price is worth a lot more, but for that to become a reality we are all going to need the management to do more than they have in 2022.

Personally I sell shares when the story/metrics have changed. Until that is the case here I remain a holder. I haven’t reached the end of the line as you put it, but like everyone else I’m allowed to call things as I see them being a shareholder.

All just my opinion of course, and everyone is different.

rj777 - the share price between March and October remained above 80p and never budged. Even during huge market turmoil. I’d call that robust. The share price has only dropped away in the last month so it’s not really a myth is it?

It sounds like you’ve reached the end of the line here so would it not be best to sell up? What’s worse….catching a falling knife or holding onto stock you can’t let go of?

If increasing profit, increasing EPS, increasing revenue, increasing net cash, two valuable businesses for sale and a growth strategy isn’t for you there are plenty more fish in the sea?

They may well be looking for an aquisition but might well become one themselves at this price terrible communication and absolutely no shareholder value.

The share price has drifted a bit unfortunately. The price remained robust through most of the market downturn but the price has dropped off a bit recently…..I view it as a good buying opportunity.

It’s not too long to wait now until the end of year results in January.

Yep agree, management not proactive enough. Bob holt used to post the new contracts wins on the website, and constantly has interaction with the city. Think I've seen one short interview with Mr smith, and nothing new posted of the company website regarding contracts. As small caps are in general showing some sort of recovery, this share price is going backwards...

It would good to see the Ceo on meet the investor, no reason why they can't sign up for that..

Amidst all the tax rises/allowance reductions etc yesterday, one of the few major spending commitments was "a further £6bn from 2025 to insulate homes and upgrade boilers, as it targets a massive 15 per cent cut in energy demand this decade".

SUR specialises in boiler replacements, heat pumps, system upgrades, loft and cavity wall insulation etc etc.

So as a sector leader this has to be great news for SUR:

Extracts:

"The Government will also announce a new Energy Efficiency Taskforce shortly, to push through the plans.

This is on top of £6.6bn the Government has allocated to boosting energy efficiency across UK households since the start of this Parliament in 2019.

Earlier this year, Government also announced £1.5bn in funding to boost energy efficiency and cut bills for low income households across the country.

The spending commitment was announced at the Autumn Statement alongside the ramp up of the windfall tax and the extension of the support package."

"Currently just one third of UK homes have an energy performance certificate rating of C or above – the minimum standards the Government has set for domestic households by 2035.

This means an estimated 19m homes need retrofitting – with a study from EDF and Sprift earlier thuys year revealing the insulation age of UK homes to be at least 46 years old."

"Richard Neudegg, director of regulation at Uswitch.com, added: “Doubling the £6 billion investment in energy efficiency and insulation will be vital in cutting household energy costs and bringing bills down in the long term. It’s right that the Government is focusing on supporting those who need it the most, with vulnerable households more at risk of being forced into dangerous situations by high energy costs.”

This business remains fundamentally strong but I do think the board will have to offer the market a carrot to attract some buyers back in here. I’d be surprised if we heard anything before January though…..

Until then I’ll happily load up on these on any market weakness.

2p special dividend would go down well just before Christmas, and would enhance the CEO credibility. Its difficult to make an acquisition in December anyway, so SUR are running short of time now...

Totally agree you shouldn’t take one thing away and promise another then come up with nothing the money is in the bank the shareholders need to see something for their investments and patience

After listening VLX investor forum its made me realise the problem with trying too acquire companies in the renewable space. VLX said they won't consider an acquisition in that sector, because the multiables they are quoted are out of this world. If SUR are having similar issues, why don't they say ? We haven't been able to identify an acquisition, because of that we will give shareholders a special dividend 2p in December. I think it would be a smart move from the CEO, ..

Otherwise if nothing happens between now and January, it will make the CEO lose credibility, and make him look like a damp squid.....
