Bear markets in September/ October are always bad. Sometimes the cards are stacked against you whatever you do..

Those that can’t see value in a company that has a growing visible order book, a growing cash pile, increasing profit and and increasing EPS…..I would suggest that you sell up. Why would you hold shares in a company where you see no value?

I did say a few days ago that the share price was going to tank here regardless as it’s happening right across the markets….IR17;m not even remotely concerned by short term price movements.

Apologies if this has been mentioned but tomorrow the cap on social housing rents will be revealed. This is a future sector headwind as it will potentially slow down the much needed investment in social housing where sureserve operates. My other concern here (i have mentioned before) is the wafer thin margin which will continue to be under pressure, 6% at FY21 and 5.2% at H1’22. A growing order book is excellent but as long as its profitable.

The only way mr smith & co will listen to the shareholders is when it comes to voting the board back in .
He can’t keep banging on about a cash pile and not give the shareholders a return on their investment.

Everything looks excellent but the management need to do something to attract investors.

I'm expecting Mr Smith to do his media pitch and he needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat...a return of capital to shareholders?

Shore Capital have reiterated their forecasts of 8.1p historic EPS and 9.2p EPS for the current year.

They've also raised their forecasts for the cash pile to the current £23.2m - and this now rises to £32.3m at Sept'23, i.e almost 25% of the m/cap!

With the defensive charecteristics of SUR's revenues, and the large increase in the order books in the last few months, it can surely only be traders who were in for a short-term bump on the trading statement who are selling now, as the value and security here looks tremendous imho.

Does anyone have a valuation on the two businesses currently being held for sale - Surserve fire and electrical Ltd and Precision Lift services?

The cash generated from those sales could be used for M&A or potentially returned to shareholders, either way it would be most welcome.

Solid update. Cash pile increasing and the order book looks excellent. Given the extremely tough headwinds I’d say SUR continue to prove themselves to be an excellent business. Look forward to the end year results in January.

Excellent yearend trading update with a large cash pile some of which should be returned to shareholders. Plus if they sell the fire & lift businesses that would add a substantial sum to the cash pile.

So a meet on earnings expectations and a beat on (Shore's)cash expectations. I always like it when a company says what earning expectations they are using, unfortunately they didn't here. Using Stockopedia, consensus up until recently had been for 8.8p but Shore had raised their estimate to 9.2p after the recent budget's corporation tax windfall. So would certainly think at least 8.8p.

The year end trading update is out and is very encouraging.

SUR are nicely in line with expectations of 8.1p historic EPS despite market conditions.

Above all, the order book has jumped up materially - it's now £585m, which the RNS notes compares to £503m a year ago, but perhaps more interestingly compares to £512m only six months ago.

Plus the cash pile is now above £23m - approaching 20% of the m/cap! This is well above Shore Capital's £21.2m forecast.

With 9.2p EPS forecast this year, if you strip out the cash SUR are on a current year P/E of only just over 7.

Which is crazy considering the forward visibility and SUR's green tech credentials.

One thing I’ve learned about SUR over the last few years is that they are mystery hidden inside an enigma when it comes to their updates lol.

I’m sure we’ll get the update once the stars align.
