Moreover, cargo shipments from China to Europe are growing every year. In the next few years the volume of goods transported through Kazakhstan’s territory will reach two million containers. | celeritas

18/11/2017 04:04 | STCM is the lowest cost and most efficient producer, second to none by a long way, yes the Zi Belt and Road Strategy will have, has had and is having a Big Impact, the Chinese already own the 4 Soviet-era onshore oil and gas fields, Aktobemunaigas, Petrokazakhstan, Mangystaumunaigas and Karazhanbasmunai, have already built and commissioned gas and oil trasnport lines from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, whilst the EU is paralyzed over NABUCCO, with many more deals in the pipeline and much more to come. By my records, and as per the public record, STCM has debts now of only US$16m, US$4m as to the fleet of 350 cement hoppers/wagons, bought for less than the metal content, brand-new, at the height of the Ukraine crisis, US$4m debt long-term ex EBRD, US$5m subsidised long-term Damu Loan, and hopes to end the year with no debt, currently has stocks of 200,000 tonnes or US$4m at cost, and is no doubt collecting receivables to realise cash after the close of the season. Seasonal loans are always needed to enable the 2 dry-kilns to produce flat out all winter to then facilitate sales into the rising market as the season opens and develops, when everyone suddenly wants cement and to pay cash. | wilo101
17/11/2017 11:44 | Celertas post 760, is very interesting. With several thousands of miles of roads yet to be built/modernised, in KAZ, STCM, being one of, if not THE most cost efficient producers in Kaz, could well capture a number of contracts for work put out to tender. With President Xi speaking of creating land and marine routes from China to the Middle East and Europe, converting the rail gauge system to the international standard through Kaz and central Asia will require a whole lot of cement ties(?) on which to lay the new track and the building of new roads connecting communities en route. | azalea

17/11/2017 08:10 | This was a great deal, as US$10m was borrowed in KZT and since then there was also a large devaluation so the net amount repayable in US$ was much less and the Group benefited from the decline in the KZT, though of course its revenues and costs are in KZT. | wilo101
