I did manage to get some for 24.9p earlier.
Looked at from a medium term perspective, this seems to me to be a very lopsided bet at this price. Short term, who knows, of course.

Now trading about £10m below a fairly solid book value the way a loss-making company might.

I have a small holding here, well in the red. I can live with that. I am not buying more of a stock in a risky jurisdiction which has been falling relentlessly this year and is still falling in a rebounding market. There are plenty of safer stocks paying excellent dividends to choose from at present.

Numbers are stacking up reasonably well and there was a modest rate cut in August. Another rate cut is widely expected in October.

Even at 2p on todays price that’s still 7.5%ish (excuse my maths if I’ve got that wrong) that’s still pretty good going.

Nearer 3p on the divi should help this rally, nearer 2p and it could fall further

It's such a big range that I'm crossing all fingers and toes at this point

Back in again too after dumping a while back. Risky I guess because of the location etc but the low price and signs economy is improving in Kazakhstan has tempted me back. Would be nice too if they give a nearer to 3p dividend too

Bought a few more of these this morning. For me the company has done little wrong the last few years.Hard winters and the local economy is something they can do little about.Who knows what next year brings but in the meantime solid dividend paying companies with little or no debt are welcome in my portfolio.GLA

It’s actually just over 26p to buy now which could leave you with a buy in cost of about 23p if the dividend is paid in line with the July update. Looks like the negative (ish) update relates mainly to the start of the year and the Kazak economy is actually growing (see link below) including construction. Whilst there’s always the risk the falling trend continues I think 25p offers pretty good support & last year saw a good bounce from mid to late September so barring a big market sell off I think we are around the bottom here.

Lack of news flow, inflation/interest rates driving down income stocks, divi reduction and unknown payment date probably all
Playing a part in price reduction.
Hopefully see a pick up in share price once divi amount and timing announced although doubt we will see it increase above 30p.
May add a little more if this gets down to 25p.

Thorndon, thanks. I am aware that Vietnam/Bangladesh/Mexico seem to have taken much manufacturing from China. Indeed Guangdong is going through a huge economic collapse with abandoned factories stripped of machinery all over the place. It has lost it's place as the workshop of the world. One hopes that China doesn't decide to start a major war as a distraction.

I agree with the sentiments here, in that the costs of moving cement over large distances on the whole make the exercise untenable.

It will be the underlying economy of Kazakhstan that will be the measure of demand for STCM cement. One wonders how much of the local economy is affected by activity in China, as plainly China is going through a huge property collapse, and subsequent destruction of capital of erstwhile mortgage holders in China.

High time for a major change in leadership and management, they are unable to get any share price performance and for years on end now. Del Ser has too many conflicting other interests and irons in the fire, not disclosed.

Normally maximum radius circa 350km, no more due transport and logistics costs.
The nearest plants to STCM are in Semipalatinsk (Wet) and Ust-Kamenogorsk (HCC), is no plant in Astana and no other plant in Karaganda, so is a monopolist in that region.

Cement does get sold beyond domestic borders but its normally to nearby countries.

Africa appears to be the furthest cement travels for sales possibly due to the lack of manufacturing infrastructure

Lefrene china is not as cheap as it used to be , hence why company's are investing elsewhere.
Cement is made locally , where borders are close some transaction occur with high fuel costs this is getting less & less.

A couple of nice swings last two days for anyone brave enough to day trade. Getting too tight now as we are coming into a wedge between support and resistance trend lines as we approach the hopefully improved figures in a couple of weeks. Positive breakout incoming would be my bet, even without the dividend hunters.

There is a rail link from China through Kazakhstan, but it seems early days yet as part of the Belt and Road project to Europe. So perhaps if the costs are not too onerous there might be some Chinese cement making it's way to Kazakhstan? But it would seem unlikely that a cheap commodity could be shipped a huge distance by rail, and still have enough margin to undercut local production.
