08/2/2017 16:40 | TP...I am just guessing...seems LaValmy actually knows ! | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:38 | ah, that explains it, many thanks LaV and YUMYUM | the prophet
08/2/2017 16:34 | LaVal, Praise be for the Dutch lottery. Sounds fun. I will offer my postcode ! Maybe the mess is now less messy with SRT ! | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:32 | Base station in Galapagos (with satellite transmission to mainland) and high up base stations mainland Ecuador should be enough? | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:32 | TP It was me that said no satellite. To requote from the original RNS 'The Identifier transceivers were tested and evaluated over the course of a year, during which they met all requirements with a recorded system tracking range of up to 180 miles due to the height of the AIS base stations.' Zero latency indeed, because it is direct to the base stations. Nine, I think, there are. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 16:26 | YUMYUM you say no satellite, but if they are tracking 250km from shore, isn't that satellite? I note release says 'zero latency', which implies it ain't satellite? Bit confused here!.... | the prophet
08/2/2017 16:21 | YumYum I posted a while back, maybe even as long ago as the old thread, about the sorry old tale of trying to get some sort of plan worked out for sensible fishing in the Galapagos - some document I came across which detailed about twenty years worth of messing around, perverse incentives, different institutions at cross purposes and the like. It certainly didn't sound as if fisheries management, there or elsewhere, was easy. Nor did it really sound like they were approaching some sort of solution. BTW, I have checked and it was the Dutch Postcode Lottery which paid for it. Mugs everywhere, it seems. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 16:19 | Message in a bottle. It was good to see a section of Indonesia's MDM on the screen. | lazyj
08/2/2017 16:13 | LaValmy, No satellite...on reflection that makes sense. Had not thought about that. TP, Yes....potential customers should like this. SRT is a proven performer. | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:09 | LaValmy, It does say this is national, hence it is not just a Galapagos rehash. Also deals with catch reporting and licence management. Progress is being made. Share price deserves to go up. | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:07 | maybe it's a pr release aimed more at potential customers rather than investors?..... | the prophet
08/2/2017 16:06 | Yumyum Could be that ST is trying to hint that the customer is happy and wants to go national. He was convinced that Ecuador would start this FY. Although someone has to pay for all this. The Dutch paid for the Galapagos if memory serves. The whole hog would be in the $20 million + range. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 16:03 | not quite sure why we are releasing old news (ok, I know the answer is 'cos we ain't got new news), all seems a bit strange, perhaps fore-runner to more encompassing Ecuador news? SRT don't strike me as fluffy or re-hash news types, so I'm finding it all a bit odd.... Re 'material' apart from financial, like 10% of t/over, I believe, it can be other factors, such as first sales of a new product, or first sales into a new territory etc etc | the prophet
08/2/2017 16:01 | I was thinking of berking this morning. I think this news is more 'puff' than anything but at the same time is not nothing. I sense a little more flesh. I might berk later. AIS is a good space to be in. This is a reminder to the market that SRT is very much in the game. A weakish share price deserves to go up on little positive snippets. :-) | yumyum
08/2/2017 16:01 | sivadnoj Yep, pretty much. Because the base stations are high up and there is sod all in the vicinity, coverage is much better than normal. Satellite wasn't required. As to why SRT have decided to mention it, as a piece of PRT puff rather than for investors, is anyone's guess. Some plonkers do not know the difference. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 15:55 | Forgive me - I'm new to the products. Is a VMS turnkey solution the same as the products set out in the original release below? And if so, why bring it up again almost 3 years later? SRT, the AIM-quoted provider of maritime domain awareness technologies, products and solutions, is pleased to announce that it has received an order for 410 Identifier AIS transceivers and a GeoVS VIEWER display system for deployment in the Galapagos Islands. The units will be shipped in June for immediate use on vessels operating in the Galapagos maritime territory. | sivadnoj
08/2/2017 15:55 | Apologies - double post | sivadnoj

08/2/2017 15:49 | For any remaining berks, that was dated 2 June 2014. News, indeed. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 15:47 | kalkanite 'SRT Marine Systems PLC is pleased to announce that it has successfully worked with local partners to deploy the SRT VMS System to monitor and manage a national fleet of fishing boats operating up to 250km from shore across an area of over 600,000km2 much of which is open-ocean and incorporates sensitive marine environments.' From the original RNS 'The Galapagos Islands, which are a province of Ecuador, are located 650 miles from the Ecuador coast and have a highly sensitive and unique environment, which is subject to strict protection. Vessels are only permitted to operate in certain areas at specific times. In 2012, the authorities of the islands determined that all boats operating in their waters should be tracked and monitored to ensure compliance with operating regulations. A system of AIS base stations was installed in 2013 and a regulation drafted and enacted requiring local and visiting vessels to be fitted with an AIS transceiver to enable authorities to monitor and regulate movements. The Identifier transceivers were tested and evaluated over the course of a year, during which they met all requirements with a recorded system tracking range of up to 180 miles due to the height of the AIS base stations. Simon Tucker, SRT CEO said: "The order from the Galapagos Islands is in line with the global trend of authorities seeking to monitor their maritime domains using AIS. The Identifier was developed specifically for small fishing boat monitoring and so were perfect for this project. I am delighted that SRT's products will be playing an active long-term role in protecting this valuable and unique habitat. Although a small order, the Galapagos is an excellent showcase for the pending Ecuador fishing fleet monitoring project with up to 20,000 vessels, and the wider South American market." | lavalmy
08/2/2017 15:45 | Valmy - the business wire article covers it well enough. | philjeans
08/2/2017 15:42 | LaValmy Could you possibly point me to the Galapagos reference that you believe todays news refers to? I cannot seem to find anything that might match this. TIA | kalkanite
08/2/2017 15:40 | News is news and it's a nice piece of new business. This "berk" has added, despite remarks from the pompous oaf above. | philjeans
08/2/2017 15:22 | YumYum It depends. When I trained as an accountant, materiality was fairly flexible, but 5% of profits was often ballpark. In general, though, it is such as to affect the user's judgement of the company and would include something that turns a profit into a loss even if that only involves £100k. Some berks have decided to buy on this non-news or the MMs have read this board and marked prices up. I reckon it will drift as it was before, until real news comes out, maybe weakening as the prospect of a miss becomes more likely. They may also need some cash. | lavalmy
08/2/2017 15:15 | It was an email at 13:58 today. | cliffpeat |
