I don't know much about traders and their ilk, but I was non-plussed at the lack of reaction to the Indonesian news on the day, particularly in the morning, when I was with the Mrs for a doctor's appointment. 24-26p or something it got to then, on a contract worth 22p per share. It went up later in the day.

On the Fool, some cynical old farts were on about it not being a contract, but a milestone based thing, as if SRT were some type of drug company, but the reality is that all substantial contracts will be phase based and cancellable if they don't work, unless you're talking about the UK government and PFI.

HJB. Why don't you sell the lot and let LAV have your stake, or would it take him through another percentage point?

I think the nature of the buy/sell decision has changed significantly though - (not for traders though).

SRT was in the position of a lot of people getting disillusioned thinking nothing significant ever seemed to get announced. Then suddenly everyone got caught on the hop.

So its probably moved to a situation where more people are worried about being caught on the hop again. Especially given that the Indonesia contract wasn't one of the ones waited for.

The 'well I don't want to miss out' mentality must have increased, on the basis that one more significantly large contract might put the share price somewhere where there would be a lot more 'I wish I'd had more patience' comments.

Second half weighted has a familiar ring to it.But I've no real idea what SRT will do for the interims.I wonder if the changes in SRT's S-AIS offering have held up any projects at all?Would have thought other countries in SEAsia will be closely following Indonesia's progress and we know SRT have been active in Malaysia and Vietnam and others, so be good to get update on all these matters at the interims.

big disappointment for me is that the old absea rec revenues are being put back further and further, not sure now it will ever happen in decent numbers.Second half weighted anyone!?
Not sure whether to sell a chunk now just in case the update is poor, which seems likely atm.

Agree TP. I think that this is now way overbought. We may be seeing a few who have taken the "interims view" and/or just not researched this properly (hardly difficult given some excellent posters on this thread, ST's frequent broadcasts, before you even get to the fundamentals/SWAT etc) and they now getting the jitters. This is still imo a longer term play and hopefully an exciting one.

Re indonesia order, don't know, that really is the big unknown in terms of what SRT willbe able to recognise and when. They managed to squeeze over £2m of the Indo order into last year's results, which I guess probably represents a fair chunk of the initial phase. ST would not give any sort of update re trading at the agm, which was unusual in that on previous occasions we've had a 'happy with where we are' kind of statement, which has been reassuring in a completely non-meaningful way!
It could be there's a nice chunk of Indonesia in the interims, it could be there's f-all. Guess we will find out soon enough! I guess as well for those whose horizons extend beyond the interims, it's not of any real consequence. Personally I always like improving trends and income, sort of feels good as well as reducing/removing the need to raise any further funds.

Re core, which has now become 'core plus mandates', ie everything except projects, may depend if there's been much in the way of sales to US? Not holding my breath re core, flat to single digit growth would be my best guess.

yes, progress is great, but it's bigger revenues we need.New toys that are only sold in small numbers it seems.I hope core is doing well this half?

I believe it's a RNS by virtue of it being a new territory and not it's monetary value.
It's a start, ST has always said that Africa is more of a development area and this is sound news of progress.
Yes, we all want more 'biggies', but I'm happy to hear of progress elsewhere as well.

I wish they hadn't bothered with this RNS, it just seems rather flimsy when all we hear is mega numbers quoted with what's to come and then a 400 unit order pops up...laughable!!
I had hoped for a bigger rabbit before update otherwise we are going down again! at least it will please LaVal...lol!

I see on the SRT Marine web-site today's order in the link is titled 'SRT eE Ghana Identfier order', confirming indeed that this is the EE Ghana deal that EE announced a few weeks ago

ok, you were right all along,I think(!), although I don't think any of us realised that SRT's continual development of their own S-AIS ip meant that they were at a stage where it didn't really matter if they were in bed with EE or not as that any satellite constellation operator would do, as most of the tech resided in SRT's transceivers.
SRT could legitimately develop their own S-AIS ip whilst the EE agreement was in force without being in any breach of the EE agreement, as the agreement consisted of some IP that was SRT's alone, some that was EE's alone and some that was joint. That is my understanding.
So I would view this as something more than just a rebranding exercise, in fact it is clearly a lot more significant than that.

Moving on from a bit on Monday morning jousting/point scoring :)
As Mr T makes clear, revenues from S-AIS are still some distance away, as , naturally, we have to get the MDA systems out there first, but I assume it must help enormously to help get these projects over the line by SRT having SAT-trak available. I look forwards to the interim results/TU to see where we are at in that respect.

LAV.
The question is:-
Has SRT developed new technology that allows 'any satellite system', other than EE, to view the identifier?
Quote 'SAT-Trak technology can be deployed on all AIS Transceiver types (Class A, Class B, Identifier, SART and AtoN) and configured and optimised for any AIS satellite system

Dated the same day as the RNS about the revised agreement. Seems that SRT have spent the interim dreaming up a new name.

For now this is just about rebranding, eE as exacTrax, SRT as SAT Trak, but over time their offering will diverge. As I mentioned at the time of the divorce, I didn't think that SRT had any new technology up their sleeve that they had been developing surreptiously and in breach of their existing agreement. It would seem that that is correct.

Not posted for a while but thought others might be interested in my AIS satellite research given recent RNSs regarding Exact Earth relationship with SRT and SAT-Trak.

The World Radio Communication Conference set up a working group a few years back to address the issue of satellite reception of AIS transmissions and make proposals to the WRC 2015 conference. The working group provided the following recommendations to the WRC 2015 annual conference for discussion/approval

It appears that these proposals, or a variant thereof, were accepted by the WRC at the Nov 2015 meeting. (the new frequencies are of course available to all)

PR Newswire (US)

Exactearth Ltd (TSX:XCT)

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, August 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

exactEarth Ltd. (TSX: XCT) (the "Company"), announces that it has been selected by the Fisheries Commission (West Africa Regional Fisheries Programme), an agency of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD) of the Government of Ghana, for the provision of Satellite AIS data services as well as a small vessel tracking solution. The contract value is in a range of CDN$1.0-$2.0 million for a 12 month period and will enable Ghana to acquire the technology necessary to monitor its expansive coastlines and deter illegal fishing in its national waters.

Along with a comprehensive Satellite AIS data feed, exactEarth will provide MOFAD with 450 Class B AIS transceivers to be installed on inshore fishing vessels which will be tracked via satellite utilising exactEarth's exactTraxTM small vessel tracking technology. In order to address the rampant Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing around Ghana's Exclusive Economic Zone, MOFAD have provisioned this small vessel tracking solution to gain access to detailed fishing vessel positions and movement analysis services through the exactEarth ShipView™ platform. exactEarth ShipView will be upgraded to include a SOS alerting facility in an effort to support Ghana's government in their "safety of life at sea" initiative, which is intended to help its fishermen. exactEarth will be working with a local partner and academic institutions in Ghana to provide vessel movement analysis and reporting to help inform policy decision making and also to engage the next generation maritime professionals in coastal surveillance to protect and preserve Ghana`s fish stock for the future.

"This is an important strategic win and a major step forward for our small vessel tracking initiative," said Peter Mabson, exactEarth CEO. "MOFAD needs a high performance, reliable and compliant maritime monitoring solution to protect their critical fishing industry and our small vessel tracking capabilities will be an integral part of helping them achieve that objective. This reflects the growing opportunity for both our large and small vessel tracking solutions and our reputation for having the leading Satellite AIS solution on the market."

Just a couple of points relating to Simon's exposition:

Getting terrestial systems and boxes on boats is the priority, but the boxes must be configurable if the customer decides later on to fill the gaps with satellite tracking. Does any one know how this is done? Like a Skybox, remotely? Or do they have to physically get the device and change it, which would be a nightmare.

I can see this being well lucrative when the customer doesn't have their own satellite, and SRT resells a bundle of data from multiple sources, the AIS component of which is entirely dependent on SRT making their various tweaks. Then onto the GEOVS system, which in turn should provide recurring revenues. But what of the customer who has their own satellite? I can see SRT could charge more for the box, but how to turn that into the recurring revenue which we crave?

It sounds like most of the improvement from ABSEA was directly related to SRT's work on the transceivers. eE now has ABSEA, frozen in time as it were, which it can sell as it wants, 30% going to SRT. SRT has ABSEA with the ability to further improve things, as well as to adapt the system to a specific level of detection etc. It doesn't mean that eE's new constellation will not be used. I rather think it will by many of the customers who don't have their own satellites. But eE will have to play second fiddle in terms of pricing, particularly given what will be a massive sunk cost which in effect they borrowed from Harris.

A most interesting development.
