02/6/2010 17:04 | shame the trading volume is low, otherwise we would have gone up a lot more | qipincha
01/6/2010 20:10 | The alternative was shut it and sell the assets but likely they they saw this as costing more so presumably nil and a write down could be the cheapest option. | matt
01/6/2010 10:16 | Losses of >£6m on £34m of turnover is one sick business...turning it around may not be that simple. Getting out was the important thing, it's looking more & more attractive to me..might have to jump on board at last.. | jazza
01/6/2010 10:07 | nilip, Appreciate your view. To sell a loss making business is not easy.If they can sell a loss making business for ££, that will be great for all of us. But I am happy as long as they get rid of it. I have seen many companies have huge NAV, but the share price still go down to toilet because they are not making any profit. Market take more weight on EPS rather than NAV. And to generate profit is more important for all share holders. BTW, their debit is (118-30)m now. | qipincha
01/6/2010 09:49 | qip, Don't get me wrong, they're better off rid of the Gas business but given that the company has net debt of £118 Million it would have been prudent to get a nominal figure rather than just literally give it away ... that's quite a decent debt pile SPI has on it's books and every bit helps imo to try to reduce such a debt. Unfortunately, they've now written off another 10.4 Million from it's books. | nilip
01/6/2010 08:49 | yes definitely get rid of the rubbish and move on | solarno lopez
01/6/2010 08:17 | sorry you take the negative side of this story. I prefer the company to get rid of the gas business even with nil price as it contribute 6m loss a year at the moment and to reconstruct the business will cost more... | qipincha
01/6/2010 07:53 | They've 'given' away the gas business ? Even though it had assets of £10.4 Million ?? I thought they'd at least sell it for a decent price and get something for it rather than nothing. Does this mean they'll write off the £10.4 mil as another one off loss in the figs. | nilip
01/6/2010 07:32 | But at what price. | solarno lopez
01/6/2010 07:22 | spice got rid of gas social business | qipincha
18/5/2010 08:00 | Spice shareholders back telecoms arm sale By David Blackwell Published: May 17 2010 23:42 | Last updated: May 17 2010 23:42 ... City analysts also noted that net debt of about £118.5m at the end of April was lower than expected. The proceeds of the telecommunications sale are expected to reduce debt by almost £30m. ... | qipincha

14/5/2010 15:22 | Master, are you around? | qipincha
13/5/2010 11:58 | swapping hands, maybe, buy 5.6m and sell 5.6m at the same price another sell of 5.34m gone through at the same time. | qipincha
13/5/2010 11:55 | Yes noticed the very high Volume. Maybe another holding RNS due. | nick rubens
