Difficult to know.

The Proactive website is reporting the JV with AFC has made its first order.

Maybe I am missing out but is the stock improving because there is a sense of growing confidence in the building industry as we head into Spring. Additionally the government needs to show its building more homes, so even with an election looming(which usually causes a weariness) is there going to be sudden surge, as inflation subsides and the feel good factor kicks in.

Are investors starting to switch from cash to possible recovery stocks?

....the B&Q tie up doesn't appear to have gone anywhere, from what I can see. (Hire tools are apparently available digitally via B&Q. Interesting. I've never tried mixing concrete with a digital concrete mixer, but, hey, I'm over 60, maybe it works for modern people ! ;-) )

Perhaps over time that co-operation with B&Q can be made to 'happen' in a real way...& contribute to SDY profits.

I’m still out as I am concerned that when the figures are released, they may not live up to some expectations.
Good luck though

I thought the Times article was well balanced, saying it would take time. BUT if you look at the projected numbers of PBT v Market Cap and assume the numbers are realised, the share should be a 10 bagger over 5 years. Nice to hear comment on that!

Decent volumes this morning - presumably driven by The Times story. Shares moving from those that don't want them to those that do.

So SDY might pay down debt instead of paying a dividend... I'm ok with that... Not sure why that justifies the sell off we have seen. It trades well below tangible book - and let's face it, post inflation the value of those assets is probably materially higher than the heavily depreciated accounting figures suggest. Looks good value.

Divi going to be stopped soon'ish imo 'cause it needs to reduce its high debt level.

Given the tangible assets, cash generation and valuation, it does sound rather like solid private equity material...

If SDY was going into heavy losses, I could sort of understand the negativity. But when it trades beneath tangible book, and the question for most is will the 8% div be maintained - it all seems a tad overdone.

Had left a bid at 25.42 today and thought maybe just maybe might have been triggered
but in this thin and fragmented market will reassess and look to go again tomorrow

Happy hunting everyone

36p to 26p happened very quickly !

(£10k invested at 36p would be worth about £7k now.)

Some instis don't seem to be too happy/impressed with the company & it's news & accilounts, Aberdeen been reducing, while Aberforth apparently added.

The valuation has come down a long way and looks interesting here, below tangible book. And I also take encouragement from the point that directors were buying material amounts of stock in the 30's over the last year, including the FD. But I agree with those who are nervous about management - paying £20m for a nascent business with £12m gross assets does not sound very clever, and I hope it isn't representative of what's in store..

No word of a lie - I'm working at Ratho climbing park today. They have one of the above ... In use inside the enclosed climbing area = no fumes no noise - people can climb away ( in different areas ) that's the future, embrace it.

We need Russell Down back. He always ran a tight ship with a steady hand on the tiller.I don't trust 'spend spend spend' Dan Evans who will wreck the company in pursuit of woke credentials.

Evans has spent a fortune on a state of the art new showroom in the middle of nowhere, payed £20 million for a start up company that was worth less than half million 2 years ago, and employed a woke diversity officer who is squandering millions chasing equality targets. He's fitted out all the vans with defibrillating equipment and vowed to commit donating large sums each year to the British Heart Foundation. Which charity is he going to 'splash the cash on' next?

Clocktower is right. These shares aren't going anywhere and will continue to drift south for a long time to come.

What's that old saying 'buy when no one else is wanting, for the best price'

I love all of this new tech and see where the clean air regulations are taking us. It will take time, but as we head to the first red line 2030 the regulations will only get tighter.

I have my small holding in the safe.

Green Power, Hydrogen all these entities will take time bedding in and have the buys been poorly timed?

They have their own problems to sort out but these attempts to go green might turn out to be the leg irons that will drag them down.

Nothing that they have said will change the landscape until after the next update, and even then I can’t see it being anything that will change the direction of the shares.

Is there a problem with the management?

each to own opinion but personally I think the interest cost is too high wrt PAT

& hence that the co. should concentrate on reducing the debt, for say 2 years
Either cutting back on capex as American Idiot suggested or by reducing the divi. imo the cost of the divi is too when consider the high debt & low PAT.

-----

Going out spending lots of money in last X months, based on the share price it hasn't gone down well with the mkt.

Dividend unlikely to be cut. Post today's figures, Free cash expected at 15m in 2024 with Dividends expected to eat up 12m of that cash, still leaving 3m of Free Cash in 2024. Not a lot of breathing space, but if this is low point with things expected to get better during this year we should be fine. FD probably thinks the same (FD's generally being the most risk averse of the board)
