0910 GMT [Dow Jones] N+1 Singer cuts Spectris (SXS.LN) to hold from buy and target to 1780p from 1950p, ahead of Spectris 3Q IMS next week. "We would not expect the group to completely shrug off the weaker market conditions being reported by capital goods groups across from the UK and overseas." it says. Reduces its forecast for organic sales growth for 2012 to 3% from 5% as weaker global manufacturing PMIs and industrial production numbers suggest a tougher backdrop in 2H. "With our near term organic growth estimate reduced to 3%, we no longer forecast an increase in margin for 2012," it adds. Shares down 4.9% at 1580p

TRADING UPDATE
Reported sales for the three months ended 31 March 2012 (the "period") were 21% higher than the comparable period last year, including a contribution from acquisitions of 15% and a positive currency effect of 1%. On a constant currency organic (like-for-like) basis, sales increased by 5%.
Regionally, on a like-for-like basis, sales to Asia Pacific during the period increased by 7%, North America grew by 7% and Europe was up by 2%.

cam - its a superb company. I've done pretty well out of it. Just think it might consolidate so I can get back in again a bit cheaper. But not holding my breath.
