06/10/2017 12:54 | NtvIf so many applications why the exclusivity? Or is it just in the cup mkt? | tilly99
06/10/2017 12:34 | yesterdays deal yesterday began to answer my questions about the type of products these applications can be used for. it appears that it can be used on such items as cheap as lids then the world is its' oyster. | ntv
05/10/2017 17:36 | Does seem like a chunky overhang. Some large trades crossed over during the day. Imagine there is more to go yet but hopefully nearly done. | horndean eagle
05/10/2017 16:00 | Looks to me like Nabil is building revenue streams from most areas of the businessHe may yet pull aeris out of the bag..then the world really will be our oyster!! | tilly99
05/10/2017 15:32 | Good question. Who else supplies Keurig ? In 2013 it was estimated that Keurig sold over 6 BILLION k-cups (!). wow. hxxps://dealbook.nyt According to their SEC return for 2015 they sold the 7 best selling coffee machines (by $ value) in 2015. Keurig has now gone private so less reports out there. Anyone with any info on LMI ? | fft
05/10/2017 13:54 | How big are LMI? | tilly99
05/10/2017 10:39 | PJ1, I think that pc above has it right. A bit like cigarettes in china, if even only 10% of k-cups are frauds (at a far cheaper price) it may be worth quite a bit. The question is who decided to do this ? Was it LMI (but why ?) or was it Keurig themselves ? And if Keurig, then why only LMI - presumably other people also make k-cups. btw, I dont think that there is a night shift making k-cups without LMI knowing. But I don't think it would be difficult to knock up a prodn line to churn out thousands out a day. esp. if making 20c a capsule. The label would be easy to make, and the consumer would probably never know. | fft
05/10/2017 10:31 | Maybe the risk of 'fraud' and copying is from within the supply line itself? i.e. manufacturer's. It was a problem even in the clothing industry with silks and high quality materials, with suppliers sourcing form where they should not have, especially now with all ''green' credentials and ''ethical'' manufacturing. | pj 1
05/10/2017 10:29 | Well i guess Keurig DO NOT want you to re-use the K-cup. When you do the YouTube search (re post above) you will find many an upload on "How to..." from SPSY... Spectra System's coating formulation will allow coffee suppliers producing their K-cup lids at LMI Packaging Solutions to have complete functionality in the Keurig K-cup system which uses internal sensors that allow it to only work with specific material signatures printed on the K-cups. Dr. Nabil Lawandy, CEO of Spectra Systems, stated: "This agreement with LMI has validated our ability to provide security products in the consumer products market where an increasing number of manufacturers are using sensors to lock their hardware with the associated consumables. | pecuniarum copia
05/10/2017 10:14 | If i understand it, they are like nespresso capsules, so I am at a loss to understand the security aspects. Or, is there forgeries and counterfeiting going on ? I suppose that at about $1 per capsule someone could probably turn out copies at 20-30c and make a killing. This could be a very interesting test case. If it works as Keurig want it to, then maybe nescafe (nespresso) would also be interested in 18 months, and any other products where the margins are sky high. | fft
05/10/2017 09:42 | always a black market... search YouTube = How to make a reusable K-Cup lid YouTube = Refill and Reuse your K-Cups - DIY Home - Guidecentral YouTube = Hacking Coffee K cups To Be Able To Reuse Them YouTube = 30 keurig k cups recycled, cleaned and foil sealed in under 5 minutes | pecuniarum copia
05/10/2017 09:23 | Over the last year, Nabil has seemed very much in "Under promise and over deliver" mode. On that basis, I presume the "delighted to announce..." and "grow into a stable source of revenue and profit" suggests this may indeed be a material and worthwhile deal. | simso
05/10/2017 09:22 | I think its early stage and revenues not really predictable so they issued it as a non RNS. More for PR rather than investors. On a side note De La Rue have today been awarded contract to supply polymer material for new £20. My memory isn't the greatest but I think SPSY are involved in some way. Happy to be corrected if I am wrong. | horndean eagle
05/10/2017 08:22 | Perhaps this authentication gives LMI a big competitive advantage over other K cup manufacturers and therefore a greater chance of securing Keurigs business. Spectra agreed not to try and sell it to others in the same game? As ever I would like to know the financial implications of this latest deal. In Nabil we trust lol | fozzie
05/10/2017 08:18 | I assume this helps with logistical and supply chain management rather than security lol Or is there a black market for coffee cup lids that I've missed? Now I know why Costa is so popular. | pj 1
05/10/2017 08:14 | Neither could I........ Spectra Systems, a leading supplier of authentication technology for banknotes, brand authentication and tax stamps, is delighted to announce a five year agreement with LMI Packaging Solutions of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin to incorporate Spectra Systems authentication technology into LMI produced coffee K-cup lids. Spectra System's coating formulation will allow coffee suppliers producing their K-cup lids at LMI Packaging Solutions to have complete functionality in the Keurig K-cup system which uses internal sensors that allow it to only work with specific material signatures printed on the K-cups. Under the agreement, Spectra Systems must supply its technology for K-Cups exclusively to LMI Packaging Solutions for the first 18 months. Dr. Nabil Lawandy, CEO of Spectra Systems, stated: "This agreement with LMI has validated our ability to provide security products in the consumer products market where an increasing number of manufacturers are using sensors to lock their hardware with the associated consumables. Working with LMI has been one of the smoothest product developments we have had and we are confident in their ability to attract more customers to their lids that use our materials." "We are confident that over time this new line will grow into a stable source of revenue and profit. The total global K-Cup market in which LMI is participating is already over 10 billion units per year." | junior21
05/10/2017 08:11 | Same here nothing from ADVFN or LSE. Could someone post please? | pj 1
05/10/2017 07:37 | i would guess it ties Keurig to using LMI to produce its k cup for 18 months? Whatever, it looks like a good contract win for us and further validation of our ability to win orders in new areas. | fozzie
05/10/2017 07:37 | Can't see any news. | sonofbanjosinger
05/10/2017 07:36 | But can't get any contracts with others..hmmm | tilly99
05/10/2017 07:28 | Looks like an 18 month trial before commercial contract? | someuwin
05/10/2017 07:17 | News out Why the exclusivity? That limit the opportunities to us?Difficult to gauge the reaction to this today with no numbers included | tilly99
03/10/2017 18:38 | Haha I thought u were a buyer!!No probs | tilly99
03/10/2017 18:20 | I just made a comment...l was checking online limits at the time. I already have plenty of Spectra. | sonofbanjosinger
03/10/2017 12:35 | SonofYou are funnyYou made out you wanted to buy but can't Now you know it's easy to buy you don't want to!! | tilly99 |
