Important to remember that they already have one customer in China using TruBrand, acting as a trailblazer if we get the big orders following on this will multiply overnight...

"...Spectra Systems, a leading supplier of authentication technology for banknotes, brand authentication and tax stamps, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a six year supply contract with a Chinese manufacturer of labels for linens for the use of our new breakthrough technology, TruBrand(TM) which enables for the physical, non-image based, authentication of products using a smartphone.

This contract represents the first important adoption of the technology and will begin January of 2017. The contract requires minimum annual high margin materials revenues of $0.30m beginning 2018 whether or not such materials are ordered and has a minimum total value of $1.65m. The delivery of these materials to the new customer will not require additional staffing at the Company and will contribute significantly to our earnings.

The Board anticipates that sales of materials to this customer will provide a valuable first reference for the technology and help drive sales, particularly in China.

Dr. Nabil Lawandy, CEO of Spectra Systems, stated: "This is a milestone for Spectra and is critical for the acceleration of sales of this new enabling technology. TruBrand(TM) eliminates the need for costly readers and allows the consumer to authenticate the product themselves. TruBrand(TM) has a multitude of applications including very large scale, multibillion unit products such as tobacco in China and could be a transformative source of revenue for the company. In addition to brand authentication, our family of our other smartphone based technology variants which includes TruStamp(TM) and TruNote(TM) will also benefit from this first adoption. TruNote(TM) , our banknote authentication version, like TruBrand(TM) , can authenticate and denominate banknotes in any environment, including absolute darkness, making the technology ideal for visually impaired individuals."

Hard to complain about these guys in the last 12 months that is for sure! The key now will be two things I think - what they say about the dividend situation - the stated dividend policy last year if they stick to it should mean a serious increase in the divvy or a one off or a share buyback of some size. Then there is trubrand and how it is going specifically for Chinese tobacco. Really should take some profits here after holding for over 4 years but just too much could happen!!

Coffees on me!Couldn't be happier to buy 3 coffees for Simso and ....can't remember the other 2!!Only joking at the next meet up (probably in March?) all coffees and cakes on me !!Not sure if we will hold a 10p mark up today though ? Will seller hold out for a trubrand contract or was he waiting for another beat? Or is he finished and just wanted to topslice? Estimates on cash balance at year end? And divi expectation?

Trading Update

This announcement contains inside information for the purposes of Article 7 of Regulation 596/2014.

Spectra Systems Corporation, a leader in machine-readable high-speed banknote authentication and brand protection technologies, announces that it received confirmation yesterday from its licensee for covert materials supplied to 18 central banks that the royalty component of the licensee's payments will be higher than previously expected for 2017.

As a result, Spectra estimates that its profits for the year ended 31 December 2017 will exceed market expectations.

Spectra expects to release its 2017 year end audited financials by week commencing 19 March, 2018.

Dr. Nabil Lawandy, Chief Executive Officer, stated: "We are delighted to have received this news from our licensee for covert materials supplied to 18 central banks which is expected to result in our profits for 2017 exceeding expectations."
