PricewaterhouseCoopers produces detailed IFRS guide for mining industry
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - PricewaterhouseCoopers said it produced a guide on how to apply International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to the mining sector.

It hopes the 105-page guide, Financial Reporting in the Mining Industry, will help deal with industry-specific issues, such as the need for large up-front investment and the length of time taken for projects to start producing.

Yes, 5k was a manageable percentage of my portfolio... but still...
It's humbling to see a loser like this.
On the other hand having a few losers helps keep one alert and the eye on the ball to avoid the balls-up!

Tony

"camp", "overexposed"?

"never fall in love with a share"

Is there a hidden meaning here by any chance?

Now for my tip, MTA, Papaduke( i remember how bullish you were once on SCR posting several times in quick succession one sunday afternoon- ahh they were the days! )
I've clawed some of my losses back on TOM & HAWK recently; I'm confident Matra Petroleum will regain my losses by later this year ( 2/3 bagger )
£12millin cash reserves, a present mkt capt of under 20mill, starting an exciting drilling campaign( initial first well positive this week) major institutions onboard, acquisitions to emerge.

A very valuable learning experience imo.

On the face of it.......all looked good. Very good in fact!

Just shows the risks involved in such a venture and how one should-

a/ Never fall in love with a share

b/ Never chase an share price down indefinately (set limits from the outset and only change them on a fundamental basis).

However good an investment prospect appears to be, one should be mindfull of the above and

(i) Never overexpose yourself to any single investment (however good it looks).

(ii) Always diversify.

(iii) Always be prepared for unexpected bad news.

I could go on (and usually do after a few drinks) but I'll leave it at that for now.

Best of luck old freinds.........still on my watchlist!

It's all relative simon (% of one's funds).

A mere 'punt' to some. A small fortune to others.

In this game you can move swiftly from one camp to the other and then back again.......................all good fun!

The 2.6ps are all buys,so trades today actually pretty level and another £400,000 taken off the m/c,with no actual change in stock levels-unbelievable.
I cant understand why the mms will not move it up on buying, but desimate it on selling-youd think they would want people to start buying up the overhang here, but they are not encouraging that,by relentlessly dropping the bid disproportionately to the offer-maybe they are just trying to discourage sellers-whatever-still need some news-hope it will move when it comes, and it will come

I have tried sending in my query on the SCR "General contact enquiry" form, but any fields that are filled in correctly come out with a purple asterisk and the comment "invalid" when I press the submit button. Probably something to do with the query:

"Given the daily rising risk of this company running out of cash (comfortable offices in Jermyn Street noted), when are we going to get some news about creating some shareholder value? What are your timescales? Thanks in advance."

Hmmm - obviously not the Dr Tyrwhitt of Newmont and the Telfer mine! ;-)

How very peculiar - surely it must be the result of badly taken telephone dictation? Why update the site in such a slapdash way? Were the AIM on their back to comply with some sort of requirement to keep it up to date?

The last annual report had the awful phrase "to the tune of" in connection with describing the amount of money raised in a placing if I remember correctly. That should have put me off immediately! Still as a serial O-level English language re-taker for many years, I must not grumble.
