04/7/2023 07:05 | IBPO was majority owned by a single shareholder who could force the delisting. There is no way that Somero could get its shareholders to approve a delisting. | rcturner2
04/7/2023 06:42 | For some time I held shares in a company called iEnergizer (IBPO). At some point I sold it since I didn't like how they refinanced their debt. Not long after they announced they were delisting. The share price tanked from 400p to about 50p. Some speculators made good money on the volatility that followed but most investors were forced to sell at a loss, for a number of reasons. Sort of got the idea that a company can go for voluntary delisting at any moment, especially if they don't benefit significantly from being listed. | alotto
03/7/2023 23:02 | You can't simply delist, you need someone to acquire you or work with an investor to take the company private | bertiebingo
03/7/2023 14:39 | Yes, I am surprised how much of a hit Somero took, despite the recent results were encouraging as well as the macroeconomics. I feel it will take one more year of pain to see the next set of results and hopefully an improvement in the share price. Something I have pondered recently: does Somero really need to be listed, since they do not seem to be in need to raise capital on the exchange | alotto
03/7/2023 14:13 | They are not the only ones predicting a 'no recession' scenario. I think (no expert at all!) the general consensus is that things are not as bad as first imagined and as always it's confidence that drives share prices! | eggbaconandbubble
03/7/2023 12:57 | Egg, interesting and I sort of share the view. However macroeconomics are hard to predict. | alotto
03/7/2023 11:55 | Try this one for starters: | eggbaconandbubble
03/7/2023 10:51 | Sorry, I thought you meant that the PR person in Somero said that the boffins think that the US will avoid recession. I thought by boffins they referred to their sales engineers or something. | alotto
03/7/2023 10:35 | Who are ‘they’? | eggbaconandbubble
03/7/2023 09:44 | Did they actually say "the boffins"? | alotto
03/7/2023 08:30 | Not only that but the boffins now think that the US. will avoid recession and inflation is now just 4%. | eggbaconandbubble
01/7/2023 10:06 | I'm surprised they gave away the info but good for us they did. | alotto
01/7/2023 09:38 | I phoned them to get the contact details of their pr company and they happened to mention they were very happy with the orders that were coming in. | eggbaconandbubble
01/7/2023 08:43 | Egg I wasn't referring to the grammar... I meant to ask, did you ring their sale office or something like that? | alotto
30/6/2023 07:01 | Gosh. Awfully sorry, old sport! Bad grammar. I meant “When I spoke……. | eggbaconandbubble
30/6/2023 06:24 | Eggbaconandbubble What do you mean by "I spoken to the UK office"? | alotto
28/6/2023 16:35 | When I spoken to the UK office (Europe) the orders were apparently coming in hand over fist. Very happy they were. | eggbaconandbubble
28/6/2023 15:32 | The trading update implies they now expect FY 2023 revenues of approximately US$ 120.0m (compared to the previous market consensus estimate of US$ 132.1m), EBITDA of approximately US$ 36.0m (compared to the previous market consensus estimate of US$ 42.8m). This is a fall of 22% so assume 25% fall in eps to 41c at 1.28 = 32p. Ay 300p the pe is 9.375. The seems good value as most of Somero's sales are in the US, and Biden is spending hundreds of billion on infrastructure over the next few years, so demand should be good. Another advantage is that there is not much exposure to the basket case UK economy. | scbscb
27/6/2023 16:26 | How about laser guided pothole filling machine!!!! :-) | eggbaconandbubble
26/6/2023 08:58 | I think it's important to realise that the majority of SOM's profits come from the US. The UK may well be heading into a recession, but historically the third year in the presidential election cycle in the US is a good one for their stock market. | fredfishcake
