apfindley, It's the asset value that is finally being recognised. Solg have stated resources of 10 billion tonnes of ore in just one section of their Ecuador holding. Similar resources have changed hands at up to $38 a tonne in situ. OK that may be unrealistic where the extraction infrastructure has yet to be built, but this resource once tapped and earning will be worth many billions $. It's just a case of waiting another couple of years while the rest of the lease is proved up. With any luck several major mining companies will chase after it.

the deal is conditional and needs shareholder approval to get the shares at 6p

For my two peneth I think Newcrest or whoever come to that should pay the going share price on the day less 20% or at least the last four week average minus a fair discount. Whoever would still IMO be getting a good deal. I think letting shares go at 6p would undermine the share price and investor confidence. Well that's my thoughts.

It's been 3 long years and finally back in the black with this lot, but where next? Some life changing figures being thrown around. 70p per share? It's happened before but I'm not sure I see it. Maybe 25 is more realistic

After so many dilutions. They are the major Shareholder and will vote it through.

Still not clear on this, so shareholders have to vote on whether Newcrest should get shares at 6p (8c), when stock is already 12p, by mid-October subject to no-one else making a higher offer ? And the maiden resource estimate is due about now (was Q3 IIRC).

So is the plan to release the resource estimate on time and create a bidding war, or are their no other players anyway, and shareholders might get cold feet as the price soars so Newcrest feels obliged to make a higher offer ?

I would expect the resource estimate to cause price jump based on results so far, so is it pre-vote or coming after?

No. The Newcrest shares effectively will not come onto the market (unlike Maxit placing shares). After the Newcrest placing is done, if not before, I would expect a share price increase as a larger drilling programme gets underway and Solgold will have enough money to avoid coming back to the market for at least a year.

So expect an share price pull back to 8.5p?

Price action shows that Nick Mather's decision to do a financing and three year deal with Newcrest is looking more and more like a masterstroke, not least because it depends on shareholder approval.

The only potential problem I can see is the increasing disparity between the 6+p price and the market price. However, there is a simple win-win solution for both Solgold and Newcrest: either Newcrest offers, or they both agree,to split the difference so if the share price is say, an average of 11p over a four week period, Newcrest will pay 8.5p per share - still a handsome discount to market price. The extra cash for Solgold should give it enough in the kitty to avoid another placing with Maxit. This avoids further dilution which benefits both Solgold and Newcrest. The extra cash Newcrest will have to fork will be pretty small beer for them.

I agree re Newcrest. When developing a project for underground block cave mining, Solgold have an excellent partner in Newcrest who are experts in this field. There are few miners leading this field so it is a vital addition. Also, Dr Steve Garwin, Chief Technical Advisor, has 28 years experience as a geologist and is highly regarded in the field of porphyry gold & base metals, being involved in previous projects. Just the people you need leading the way.

Gold is likely up post US non-ISM Manufacturing Index which was 51.4 for Aug vs. 55 expected. The USD sold off wth the DX down 100 and cable up 130+. The media will be suggesting this lessens a US rate hike in the near term so it could cause an unwinding of positions.

For those that remember days of old and this share flew the coop, methinks tomorrow will see the pigeons soaring high and days of old will be nigh.
