Blood in the streets is an old adage as a time to buy. If Moreno pulls off these changes without a coup then the country will improve. He is certainly doing his best to improve the economy, and with Venezuela close by the Ecuadoreans don't have to look far to see what reckless profligacy gets you.

Those that read the news will see that Ecudor put the prices of oil up in an agreement with the IMF so they could recieve 4.5 billion . Does not sound like someone against mining where they will recieve multiply billions in taxes .

Not looking good here, looking like 19p shortly, and who on earth would lend money to solgold to fund a mine in equador, look at the unrest there, government could be thrown out shortly, mining permits might get them in 2021 if you are lucky, i did say at the begining of the year, wouldnt see these permits this year, and i did mention 19p on the charts about 4 weeks ago.

With gold sitting above $1500, this is a solid investment.

Tend to agree dmitri. I thought risk/reward had gone in our favour. Now I'm not so sure. Sold as well, though showing as a buy. Can't go by ADVFN trades.

Hope to buy back in when things are a bit more stable. Known unknowns and all that!

From here, it's nigh on impossible to determine the true political situation. I'm amazed the SOLG price has held up so well given the issues. Let's not forget the reason why Ecuador is underdeveloped, it's always been politically unstable.

Moreno seems to have had a plan, hopefully once through this his position will be more secure. The Ecuador Times is probably a bit more reliable than Doomberg for info on the situation.

Ecuador Warns of Coup Attempt as Government Abandons Capital

Congress, oil production facility attacked in violent protests
President Moreno governing from second city Guayaquil

"(Bloomberg) --Ecuadorian PresidentLenin Morenoaccused his political opponents of attempting a coup as the government moved outside the capital amid violence triggered by the ending of fuel subsidies last week.
In a national address, Moreno said he was moving the executive branch to the port city of Guayaquil due to security threats. The president said that allies of his predecessorRafael Correahad infiltrated the demonstrations in a bid to overthrow his government, without providing evidence.
During the fourth night of a state-of-emergency, protesters in the capital Quito caused minor damage to Ecuadors congressional building and violently entered the comptroller generals office across the street. Rioters also attacked an oil production facility, a major dairy, dozens of rose plantations and burned police and military vehicles as security forces struggled to contain the violence. Moreno reiterated that he wont reinstate the fuel subsidies."

Not ideal

mknight, very true, it is indeed easier to wait when you know exactly when the train is going to arrive, and also what will be on it. In the meantime at least gold seems to be holding around $1500.

Lefrene.

I believe NM is in bed with Newcrest and BHP and probably has atleast a vebal agreement with them .He could have released news on Alpala and has not he could have tried to defend the share price and has not . He has plenty of skin in the game so will not be giving anything away as he knows what he has got imho its easier to wait when you know whats coming .

mknight, I tend to forget about RTZ, they too of course might want a slice of the action and CGP would be a way in for them, but then why have they not made a move before now? Perhaps that problematic mine in Mongolia is cramping their style?

To be sure the insiders in these big miners will know and understand a heck of a lot more about Solg than I do. From the share price here it's plain that they are not competing to get bigger slices, so have these big boys come to an 'understanding' between themselves to attempt to slice and dice Solg at the lowest possible price?

Your idea makes sense .

Why have we delayed the Cornersrone bid until such a time when Newcrest can bid as well ?

Newcrest not wanting to purchse Cornerstone seems unlikely but if they dont make an offer then it leaves Cornerstone one less option .

Rio who i believe own over 30 percent of Cornerstone have not made a move .Maybe they are not interested but if they are they will now have to top Newcrests and Solgolds bid .

We are now coming up to the time when all parties may show their cards and this should be good news for COrnerstone and Solgold .

mknight, it's all speculation on my part, but my scenario of Newcrest taking out CGP's 15% (or all of CGP?), and then perhaps allowing BHP to match Newcrest's position, and between them putting up the cash to get to production, seems to me to be one possibility. But no harm at all in looking for finance from Banks if NM thinks he would be better off going it alone. But of course he would still have to two big boys with large holdings and seats on the Board who would likely want to throw their weight around.

From an ordinary share holders point of view I just want to see this thing get to production in order to realise the value of the asset, I don't mind too much who does a deal with whom. Given the experience of Newcrest in block caving I would be happy to see them buy Alpala, or do a deal over the production rewards. But whoever does it needs to get their sums right and needs access to all the capital required to see it through, and not do a Sirius where they badly underestimated the costs and finance requirements and presumably will get taken by a predator for peanuts?

I'm fed up of saying another chance to top up.
