Is there a chance that Amazon start or add to their holdings in SMDS and then bid for the company and the laser, automated , robotic packaging technology in a box system, seen below:

hxxps://www.dssmith.com/packaging/about/media/news-press-releases/2015/6/a-new-case-erector-for-ds-smith-packaging-systems

Would make sense at a bid price of 350p to own the company and bring in their technology to each distribution site??

The emphasis is on how they have limited negatives:
"We have continued to focus on pricing, costs and cash, with limited box price erosion testament to our resilient business model and strong customer offering. "

whereas I would expect green influenced market to be a major positive:

"Our sustainable packaging offering including the replacement of plastics is becoming ever more important to our FMCG and e-commerce customers and we continue to gain market share."

So box prices are being eroded despite the green bias?
They couldn't have a bigger plus for their niche within packaging, yet they are treading water

I don't know if this a reflection of SMDS or the world, saying they want to be green but doing nowt about it.

The BOD are clearly focusng on internals:
--------
our focus on pricing discipline, enhanced cost and efficiency improvements, and cash generation, support our expectation of further good progress in the year.
----------
and not banging on customers doors and saying, "Hey, switch to our green prodcts".

The BOD should have initiatives to exploit the green need.
It is not as if they are trying and customers are ignoring, from what they say, they aren't trying.

Very disappointed, never mind as a s/h but as someone who respects the planet.

I`m looking at adding at 300p if possible over the next few weeks, both FTSE and DJones are up and down like yo-yos at the minute. Many shares are looking like good prices at the moment but this is top of my list owing to their sound dividend cover.

You should worry. After the manager's talk he always asks 'has anyone got any questions, apart from XXXX(me)'.

It's too early for me, given the relatively recent Italian and Iranian CV breakouts. But Bear Markets rally, and this one will no doubt bottom out when many are not expecting it - any sign that the virus is being contained could elicit sharp bargain-hunting. Warmer weather isn't far away and the current CV transmissions (as opposed to migrations) in the southern hemisphere summer are practically zero. So far.

Seems fair comment EJ, and drop in share prices is of course anticipation of same, even though the big boys always seem to take blanket approach to all sectors regardless of percentage of impact to each.

Hot off press:
Completion of sale of Plastics division

My thoughts the same Moon, i figure that as we consumer so much as humans and an ever expanding population the demand for packaging will increase as will home shopping if people aren`t going out as much. I`m no expert, just a hobbyist really but I`ve added to my position here today. My only other stock I`m in at present is LGEN. Can sleep easy at night knowing pensions and packaging will always be needed.

Just a thought... but surely Coronavirus will enhance this companie as people closeted in their homes increasingly will just be ordering streams of things on Amazon prime though boredom and increasingly staying away from the high street..should the virus increase its hold.. not a great future lifestyle but things change so much so fast in this world... meant to be a light hearted observation but who knows!

Dropped a bit on announcement of CFO departing to William Hill, but he said he'd hold on for up to 12 months to ensure an orderly transition to his replacement.

The very reputable seeking alpha website have a very recent review of SMDS and views it as 34% undervalued. Even taking into consideration the rise of the last few days it is still 25% undervalued in their analysis
