22/2/2007 08:54 | Hello chaps. ISAd some of these now - seems like Hanover will drive things forward here, and what with corporate action too there doesn't seem much downside but good upside given Hanover's buying at current prices and above. Another spike to 70p now please! | ![]() rivaldo
22/2/2007 08:37 | Thanks for that, guys. A bit sneaky putting that announcement out after hours - some might have missed it (including me). :-) | ![]() diogenesj
22/2/2007 08:17 | Yes, Hanover are not paying 70p a share just for the hell of it - UTV will have to put up a load more for a bid or Hanover will start running the ship imo CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
22/2/2007 07:49 | From the Times this morning. Meanwhile, SMG could be one to watch after Hanover Investors, the private equity turn-around specialist, revealed that it had built a 12.59 per cent stake in the broadcaster. Hanover is best known for forcing changes at Imprint Group, a distributor of promotional products, and speciality chemicals group Elementis. Its investment follows the owner of the STV and Grampian television franchises saying in December that it had reopened merger talks with Irish peer UTV, but on worse terms than those it rejected twice during the summer. City sources claimed Hanover had put the SMG stake in its "passive basket", but emphasised that it was a strategic holding that was taken partly in response the the companies' pursuit of a nil-premium merger. With the news breaking after the close of trade, SMG shares finished down 2¼p to 65¾p and UTV was up 3¾p to 438p. | ![]() gswredland
22/2/2007 07:25 | Well the RNS out last night says Hanover were the buyers of those 13m shares at 70p and 69p. Looks like they had another 16m too @ 66p and hedged those as well. Looks like they might be after the voting writes with this last lot perhaps. Either way they are buyers up to 70p at least! Recon we'll see action soon. :-) CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
21/2/2007 18:26 | Chart looks good - it's still in a nice little up channel to make an assault on that 69.5p spike imo. One bit of news and these will be through that 70p in a flash imo. However you look at it the stock has found new owners of 5% of the stock recently, assumeing the 10% yesterday was half one way, half the other. big institutions are gathering stock like it's going out of fashion too. I'm convinced Hanover have an agenda to start running the show here. CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
21/2/2007 17:35 | I have a fair position here....and am hoping Hanover will extract value from SMG pretty soon... | ![]() nurdin
21/2/2007 17:26 | Hope you are right CR..I'm sure you are! | ![]() gswredland

21/2/2007 15:20 | i,m with you ian 34shares changed hands and price went down -0.50 what does seem odd is that we have had no news at all and i cannot find any comment either on the volume traded yesterday | acornoptical
21/2/2007 15:15 | I don't understand how one day there's millions of shares changing hands at 70p, and the next day it's down on relatively little volume. Can anyone explain that to a thicko like me? | ![]() iandippie
21/2/2007 13:42 | sorry EPT madmix! | ![]() gswredland
21/2/2007 12:22 | What RNS? I can see three EPT Disclosures today, but they all look pretty insignificant to me. | madmix
21/2/2007 11:41 | Umm, market not too impressed with that RNS then.Still feel very happy to hold. | ![]() gswredland
21/2/2007 10:26 | Wait for the RNS(s) today - must be one or two after those trades with holding notices. That should reveal more. CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
