Somebody hasn't put the clock forward. This morning's opening prices are the same as Friday's closing prices. Did Monday really exist or am I in a time warp. These blasted groundhogs get everywhere. Pesky critters !!!

I think that a placing of some sort is probably inevitable, but would agree with CR as to strategy. And if trading is basically strong, as they're saying, it seems to me that there's no reason why the banks shouldn't be supportive of such a plan.

Think I'd get the results out, big it up about the outlook, get some improved forecasts into the market to get the share price well off it's low before having a placing myself.

That stop on the last big fall was at 45p - which is why I said I'd sell out between 40-45p if we see it short term, that looks a placing target price if there is one imo, or a level at which a placing might get done at a discount to, say 40p when the share price is 45p, if they have one, imo.

The banks will want to be able to be paid back in the future and that has either got to come from profits (could take awhile via this route) or by cleaning up the BS through a discounted placing.

Pretty flimsy comment izzywizzy...I'm not saying anything very different from others such as NJP and Masurenguy really...

We all have small bets here but few are confident to buy large ahead of the rights issue...

Interesting to see some buyers on the RNS...

My take is that interim figures guidance is quite a bit worse than most punters here have been hoping for...and that is before what will probably be huge exceptional costs (cosultancy fees, redundancy etc) so the current debt situation is probably horrendous.

Clearly, things look better for SMC if it can get its share price up...because a rights issue becomes more feasinble...so never say never...but this remains very high risk.

I know certain punters will say that is precisely when the best profits are made but I reckon the September interims will make for very close reading! No doubt if the shares are up by then some of the punters will be out anyway...

2006 total profit £575,000

if they did'nt have the depreciation and goodwill amortisation might be nearer 2 million

however assets worth £-12 million, discounting intangibles

big debtors, bigger creditors, cash £1.2 million

so currently 0.575 million x 10 = 5.75 million - 12 million = -6.25 million alternatively use £2 million profit excluding depreciation and goodwill and answer £8 million or use massive explosion in work, but ever really tried making profits with staff numbers, overheads etc and squeezing customers???

present mkt cap 15 million

so, would a buyer pay 15 million for the future trend, who knows?

DYOR and the best of british luck...........

Amir

I think there's every confidence that this could move upward 5 to 10 pence short term, but you'd need to have bought in big to make much in the way of profit.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of these bigger buys are short term plays.
