07/4/2020 21:25 | happy with my purchase at 87p, but agree could be a while before these smaller companies recover, and not sure if all of them will do so | mister md
06/4/2020 14:47 | I'm not sure we're out of the woods with regards to global recession. I don't think things will just snap back when C-19 restrictions start to ease. However, I've bought my first small tranche of shares today with the prospect of more to come over time as the recession matures and hopes of recovery start to rise. | aleman
06/4/2020 14:43 | Nice to see this coming back a bit now! | noiseboy
25/3/2020 09:43 | Dividend announcement is quite late, was 6th March last year. | noiseboy
24/3/2020 12:05 | I know this is no consolation - but it did the same in the financial crisis of 2008-9,though it took a bit longer to fall. But fell from 230 down to about 38. The dividends did take a hit in the aftermath - as you would expect- but still returned 7-8%. If you auto reinvest the dividends - as i do,at least i should be picking up twice the number of shares in the short/medium term. Hopefully this is the time when managers earn there corn - rather than panic like many of us do. | carterit
23/3/2020 16:34 | Me too ouch | noiseboy
23/3/2020 15:13 | Christ, wince at the paper loss on this, will this ever get back to 2, who knows | chc15
23/3/2020 14:07 | I'm hoping things will be a lot brighter by September 2020 ... ;) | mister md
23/3/2020 14:03 | Trouble is the levarage due to the debt, a 50% fall in the value of the assets will cause a near 100% fall in NAV per share. Assets ~ 33m Debt ~ 16m NAV ~ 17m For example a 9% fall in asset value from £33m to £30m will cause an equal fall in the _value_ of the (NAV) i.e. £17m => £14m or a reported 17% fall in the NAV (and share price). Obviously by 2025 when the ZDPs mature/roll over things will hopefully be a lot brighter! | taylor20
23/3/2020 12:56 | Bought some at 87p just incase I am right. Fed has just announced unlimited QE too. | mister md
23/3/2020 12:52 | in part to do with dividends being cut at many companies - But that is shortterm, once they return this could well be very good value from this level ? | mister md
23/3/2020 10:25 | This does seem particularly hard hit! | noiseboy
03/3/2020 09:04 | Picked up some last week at 1.80 and 1.65. Hopefully rises and stabiles a bit! | chc15
18/12/2019 19:52 | Nice rise in NAV to 218.64p at 17 Dec. Double whammy with discount dissolving. Although mad spread of 203-219. | 2wild
17/12/2019 00:27 | Picked up a few more at 203p Monday morning, with the spread showing 198-204. Later it was 201-214, absolutely ridiculous. | 2wild
16/12/2019 12:40 | Yay cracking recovery here, over 2, let's march on! | chc15
20/9/2019 13:56 | One of the larger holdings, StatPro, received a takeover offer today. Always helps | dr biotech
20/9/2019 13:28 | Yes decent pick up, especially after going ex div.. | chc15
13/9/2019 16:25 | Price ticking up to 163 bid with NAV now back over 190p. Ex 2.4p Div next week, up 9.6% on same period last year. | 2wild
06/9/2019 07:50 | It did badly ahead of the last recession. It tends to buy mature "value" small caps that have good cashflow but often carry debt at levels that some don't like when the economy slows. One or two of these high yielders will see their business model get into difficulty in a recession and turn out to be value traps. Then you have the gearing of the trust itself and the tendency for trust discounts to increase as you go into recessions. The underperformance of the last two years is very similar to the underperformance from 2006 to 2008 ahead the last recession. IF the UK economy continues to slow, I'd expect to see further underperformance. | aleman
05/9/2019 20:25 | Performance has been dismal. Quite surprised how much worse it’s performed than it’s oeers, or at least the ftse350. Perhaps getting a final brexit solution will help, the uk smaller companies | dr biotech
05/9/2019 10:10 | Really disappointed with this trudt, my fault really, should have just put in a tracker! | chc15
26/7/2019 10:22 | SDV makes up a substantial part of my passive portfolio, partly as whenever I use to check the top holdings I would find a lot of companies I would consider investing in. However not found any in the top 20 lately that I would endorse whole heartedly. Perhaps because of the very UK focus others are also steering clear? | taylor20 |
