Confirmation that SID was tipped by Gervais Williams on the night:

"Equity Development‏@equity_research20h
#TMFPP Excellent "Mello" do with Gervais Williams, whose tips include $SID.L (Silverdell, who also presented),"

This is from a blog on another website....there will be a review of the company presentation shortly. There was not a single available seat in the restaurant and Gervais Williams did not disappoint..

What an excellent evening, seeing many friends at the monthly Mello investor evening in Beckenham last night. It was very well attended, must have been approaching 100 of us there for dinner, and a very interesting talk from Gervais Williams, the guest speaker from Miton (LON:MGR) - I must look again at their results from yesterday, even though financials are normally off my radar. An experienced and successful small cap fund manager, keen to grow assets under management, strikes me as a pretty good place to start.

I was most encouraged by his value message, and his belief that reasonable value small caps, and steadily increasing dividends are the way to go, which very much validates my approach of eschewing investing fads and focusing on decent fundamentals.

Why I'm excited by 'transformational' small caps
Gervais Williams, manager of the top-performing Diverse Income Trust, talks about the smaller companies he's excited by.

by Sarah Miloudi on Mar 15, 2013 at 05:00

These are busy times for Gervais Williams, manager of the Diverse Income Trust .

Launched nearly two years ago, the investment trust leads the UK Growth & Income sector having delivered a 37% total return to shareholders in the past year.

Williams is also set to take on the Henderson Fledgling Trust, after its board last month decided to seek shareholder approval for transferring management to Williams and his team at Miton Capital Partners.

Miton Capital Partners is part of the Miton Group (MGRM.L), which listed on the London Stock Exchange in January.

Williams ran Henderson Fledgling Trust for a decade when it was part of the Gartmore investment group, later acquired by Henderson. If all goes well the trust will be merged into Diverse Income, boosting its firepower.

In this video interview Williams talks about the success of online gaming stocks Playtech (PTEC.L), 888 Holdings (888.L) and 32Red (TTRL.L), which have helped power his trust's returns.

He explains his interest in smaller companies that mount transformational deals, such as Silverdell (SILD.L), which acquired Canada's Environmental Support Services Group last year; and Bioventix, the cash generative antibody specialist listed on the ISDX exchange (Icap Securities & Derivatives Exchange), formerly known as Plus Markets.

Just for the record 19 people are coming on Monday evening for the very first time so you will be in good virgin company. Gervais will be signing a few copies of his book for those who would like one and there will be at least five fund managers and analysts in the audience too. Plus four members of a local share club so a really good mix with 67 now registered. Maybe Riv can make it 68 ? The absolute max is 80 but I am going to try and beat the record which was 73. Nice to see how the trend has reversed on high volumes too.

Ta Riv, it is a bit light on detail but I am sure there will be plenty more after Monday. Are you going? It would be nice to put a few faces to the names on the board if anyone is heading down to Mello on Monday, it is my first attendance down there so would like to say hi to anyone who is also there.

Does anyone know when the last finnCap note was, Dec 5th 2012 is the last I have and would like to know if there is a further one?

Good to be well up on over 2.1m shares traded already today. Hopefully Monday will inspire some more buying.

Nice further write-up BTW Fugwit.

I can assure you all that Gervais will be highlighting SID as one of his top picks plus even more importantly for me is the fact that he is keen to join us early to listen to the way that our superb group of investors actually use the seession with SID beforehand and extract key information.

A great combination for the evening...top class fund manager, super group of serious investors and great potential investible company ! The dinner is pretty good nosh too lol

Cheers bbd. Encouraging that SID is the first company Gervais Williams mentions! Which rather suggests that SID will be one of those he tips on Monday.

Not surprised to see a sell off in recent days as I said before. SID has risen quickly.

It maybe that people are making end of year tax decisions. This is an Aim stock and most holders will be sitting on good 12 month profits. They will be trying to book a profit for CGT reasons before 5 April.

Today's bounce is encouraging and pleases me. People are seeing value at this level and 25p remains my target for this year.

The chart suggests a support line of around 16p, maybe a sharp spike to 15p for an hour or so to flush out those of a nervous disposition!

Next leg up should be good and I have done very well out of the cash rich stocks over the last 9 months with SID, TNI (made an exit last week and couldn't have timed it any better!) and now FCCN having topped up there today as although risky should be a big earner.

Can't beat cash for a sieve with a low rating. SID next move up will be interesting to circa 25p.

David, I've held SID since 2010 and added along the way as my confidence in the company has grown. I read PPP, and occasionally post there under another name, so knew about the upcoming event. It did occur to me that this might spark some interest so I decided to get in early with my latest top up. For once my timing looks to have been good.

Won't be able to attend unfortunately but would be very interested in any feedback. Hope it goes well and rewards your efforts.

I think you are spot on there alter ego...I think that the share price move today is linked to this event which has raised interest in SID somewhat and certainly the link with Gervais cannot hurt.

Well there's only so much one can say about watching the share price go up or down. I topped up yesterday to take advantage of the lower share price since the forecast revenue for current year seemed light given order book and recent contract wins. I may be wrong on this but my feeling is the forecast will be raised as the year progresses. Then again WT*DIK?
