OK, so Baisarov now has half of Mr. T's stake amounting to 23.5% and to get it freed from the bank he's paid $250m.

I wonder if that also frees up Mr. T's remaining 23.5% ?

At £6/share 23.5% is .23 * 316m = £436m

So he paid £166m to get the shares and could get £436m from Gazpromneft.

Russian entrepreneur Ruslan Baisarov demands Chigirinsky's 23.5%stake in Sibir Energy (SBE LN).

NEUTRAL > Entrepreneur Ruslan Baisarov demands the 23.5% stake in Sibir Energy (SBELN) which is currently owned by Shalva Chigirinsky. According to Baisarov, in 2003he bought 47% of Sibir Energy on parity together with Chigirinsky, however, he did not receive the stake. Recently Baisarov sued Chigirinsky on this matter. With respect toGazprom Neft, which recently acquired 16% in Sibir Energy, we view this news neutralsince this stake was bought from minor shareholders and is not related to theabovementioned conflict.

If I understand correctly. He pays 250 mil for 23.5 %. Gazprom paid 325 mio for 17 %. He immediately sells to Gazprom for at least 450 mio. Nice work if you can get it ! Yes, it should expidite things.

Hi Clear1

Do you have the original link ? If this is the case, then it may only serve to expedite the acquisition by Gazprom if they feel there are more wild cards with significant shareholdings..in my opinion.

JP are working for us, expect something by May 29.

Done it.

RBC 15.05.2009, Moscow 10:44:38 Ruslan Baysarov returned to regain control of the 23.5% stake in Sibir Energy. It was reported RBC source close to the owner of the company.

He also said that due to the fact that the package was bound by the Savings Bank loan of 250 million dollars, R. Baysarovu will repay this loan. According to the source, a lawsuit filed Baysarovu a company owned by Robert Rossini v. Shalvy Chigirinskogo the Isle of Man will be withdrawn.

Recall that at the end of April Rossini, registered in the British Virgin Islands, filed a petition in the Supreme Court of the Isle of Man against the businessman Shalvy Chigirinskogo and its partners.

As alleged in the lawsuit, Shalva Chigirinsky in 2003 passed Rossini registered in the Isle of Man company Bennfield, which owns 47% stake in Sibir Energy. In support of the claim Rossini presented to the court a statement certified by the Swiss lawyer S. Chigirinskogo of 2003 confirm this fact. In its lawsuit the company asked the court to prohibit any transactions in the shares of Sibir Energy.

Sibir Energy owned mining company Evihon, 50% stake in the JV Salym Petroleum Development "(the remaining 50% - with Royal Dutch / Shell). Moreover, Sibir Energy owns a small production company Magma, develops South deposit in Western Siberia. In the year 2007. Sibir Energy has sold 18% of its shares of the Central Fuel Company (100% of which belongs to the Government of Moscow) in exchange for control of the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPZ). Previously, it was reported that about 47% Sibir Energy has a fund Bennfield, which is on an equal footing control Shalva Chigirinsky and his partner, the owner of the "Mercury" Igor Kesaev. Their packages are put in Sberbank of Russia. Another 35% of the shares traded on the stock exchange

I think you will find that Shell will be left alone to develop the field.
On average to drill and produce from a well in 10 days. A fantastic development plan of upto 1,000 wells

Interesting point about Shell, I'm sure they're aware that they will be next in line for a humping if Sibir's 50% Salym stake goes under state control. Doubt there's much they can do

Bidding war? The question is who now controls Chiggers and other Russian held shares? Which amount to more than 50% I believe so whatever price they agree will be what goes through. City of Moscow, Sberbank (state owned) will play along with Gazprom/Rosneft line won't they? And Gazprom and Rosneft will just do what the Kremlin tells them, Putin being a significant shareholder in Gazprom of course. Who could stop a sale to either Gazprom or Rosneft at whatever price they choose? And State organisations don't enter into bidding wars against each other. City of Moscow/Rosneft/Gazprom will decide who is going to get what without consulting other shareholders. Once a state organisation has got hold of Sibir Shell will find they are next in line to get stuffed as well. It will all end up with the Moscow refinery and the Salym fields comfortably back under state control.

dw - If they paid 500p,then any bid during the next 6 months has to be at 500p.

SBE shares have been suspended that long & more before...

Could be a long wait!

No guarantee whatsoever of getting £5 Gatdecor Why do you think the institutions let that that stake go at that price, they didnt take much persuading now did they ?? Gazprom needed a stake to head off potential bidders and were prepared to pay whatever over the £4.30 to do the deal.

Hoping im wrong i have 6 months take home salary tied up in here.

Underlying profit of $370m is eps of approx $0.90 or 60p
40p in 1st half 2008 - so 20p or more in 2nd despite low oil prices.

£5 paid by Gazprom looks cheap.

I don't see the need for the continued suspension.

Is it 100% certain that the minimum Gazprom can bid for SBE now is £5.00? I mean, this is AIM and Russia after all, not the best mix as we've found out!

If this is the case though I assume there is a time period involved, and once that period ends they could bid less than £5 if they wished.

Or there must be circumstances in which Gazprom could bid less than £5, like say (extreme example) the oil reserves are only a fraction of what we currently believe and that £5 a share would massively overvalue the company...

I'm just not convinced yet that I'll see £5+ for each SBE share I own.
