There is a consensus that provincial town high streets will have a revival due to an increase of staff 'working from home' in the future and a general migration out of the cities.

I read somewhere Mark Dixon of IWG is apparently is very much of this view.

As an aside I find it laughable that the banks have nearly all closed their monster victorian edifices in nearly all the high streets and completely left. I feel they will be back since a bank branch, now that we have lots of automation, only needs to be a few square metres. The Post Office often operates in a booth type set up.

I think we have to take a "2nd half 2021 and onwards" view here.

I also like the idea of "high street bounce"...that's not a real phrase (i just made it up). But the point is that (rightly so) "high street" stocks are sold down...but not all traditional retailers are dead in the water by any means.

Yes, long-term and they have furlough and rates rebates to help in the short-term.

Hopefully the market is looking way ahead as more and more tier 4 lockdown means more and more shoe zone shutting again, good job they don't hold perishable stock ( yes i am a holder )

Yeah agree Shoe is going to survive because of its management however we are definitely not out of the woods in terms of share price so I am just mentally preparing myself for a battering lol.

JW,

Its likely that a lot of sectors going to be hit a little tomorrow - with i believe Travel sector to be the worst hit. To be fair, i think the market had it priced in anyway.

Lets face it, SHOE run an extremely tight ship. If they can't survive, no one can. A few shoe other retailers going pop would do us the world of good. Surely the Government has to act for business rates relief from Apr 2021.

You are right though, its a decent long term hold.

On the plus side, its only 130 stores that are closed and not all of them.

tier 4 lockdown in large parts of the UK. Shoezone is probably gonna get hammered tomorrow! I'm in it for the long run but I think its going to be painful for a good few years instead of a few months here

We should put our foot down on this negativity!

This is largely a family run company and has a great track record of dividends. Buy and forget and look back in a few years time IMHO - this is a well heeled company.

Just been in to a shoe zone shop in Dewsbury and asked the assistant " how business has been since they opened back up" ( she looked a bit shocked me been 6ft 3" wearing a mask ) She said they had been "really busy" but she hadn't any information on other stores
