Interesting closing auction trade of 126k shares which is more than the total volume in the whole of the rest of the day. 126k shares in itself not that many but curious that someone wanted in and they chose to do it that way.

This offer period closes at lunchtime on Friday so I'm not expecting any news before then.

I will agree to sell for something beginning with a 4, but I doubt they will go that far. 395 maybe.

They have until the 15th June I believe. Wonder whether the election is part of their decision making?

tbh I reckon it would go for 365 - then everyone can pile into OSB instead!

Needs to start with a 4 else they are wasting everyone's time.

I'm not blinking. I'm guessing the challenge for Pollen is where to pitch their next offer. I reckon 395 would do it. 350 won't.

I'm continuing to hold

Hmm - I expected an increased offer this morning but nothing.

Very few shares being traded now as if everyone has made their mind up.

So, a quick look at some of the shareholders who accepted the offer is puzzling:

Cabot - 5,410,208 No idea why they would support
Philip George - 1,427,517
Sir Brian Ivory - 450,000 ex Chairman of Shaw
Magnus Matthewson 464,203 ex Chair prior to flotation
Nick McAuliffe 619,250 ex COO
Nedbank 414,203
Richmond Group 4,821,709 - I believe they've now sold the lot - they bought at 1.33
Wood 1,371,421 ex Director resigned in 2016.

It appears a lot of the acceptances are from ex directors who have no incentive to accept the offer unless either:
a) they get a new place on the Board from Pollen
b) they become minor shareholders

It doesn't make sense to me

This time 113,458,952 + 619,250 = 114,078,202 45.5%
Last time 112,963,208 + 1,083,453 = 114,046,661 45.5%

Not sure why Pollen are messing about. They clearly aren't going to make it without a better offer.

If your advisers read this Board Pollen, is it not obvious the offer price has been assessed as too low as I can sell right now for more than the offer price? I am no expert as to what the shares are actually worth but I initially planned to hold for 5-10 years and I see no reason to change course unless you financially reward me.

Another week isn't going to change the 45.5% ratio unless you up the offer.

Offer extended yet again - to 1.00 p.m. 2 June 2017.

Pollen need to p1ss or get off the pot - they're draining resources from SHAW & shareholders.

Price stable suggesting market comfortable that second offer period which ends today will result in Pollen still failing to obtain sufficient votes

.... and if Pollen withdraw, then what. OSB has taken a drubbing today as Flowers sold down a quarter of their shareholding.

Interesting RNS and I would suggest makes Pollen offer even more derisory.

It appears I have been phoned several times I assume by Pollen's representative, only my wife though it was cold calling and has ignored them every time and never told me. I still haven't spoken to them. whilst they have been kind enough to leave a message on my answerphone it's garbled, the name of the company isn't clear and they didn't leave a number. hardly very professional.

Price creeping up today as if sellers at 340 are exhausted. Pollen are going to have to make a better offer or withdraw

So effectively, Shore Capital do not believe Marlin will gain the number of acceptances (without an improved offer).

I declined at 330 and a modest improved offer of 375 doesn't really do it for me given recent strength of market & competitors. I might be tempted at 450 though.

The share price is still looking good for further increases. Glad that I added earlier this year.

Not much reaction to RNS but there is a medium sized buy program running all day bashing itself against a small iceberg seller at 340.0. No idea how much the iceberg has left.

My perception of today is that the market already knew Pollen weren't going to get 50% for 330. I'm still trying to figure out how they've got 6% acceptances on top of their 39% given you can sell them for more than 330 right now.

Pollen are going to have to offer more or withdraw.

Acceptances at 45%. Offer extended to 26th May.

Not sure why you would extend as if hasn't got there this time it wont in another week.

Unless they want to see what it looks like before raising offer. Can they even do that?

I think we may have a stalemate - PS is not going to get over the line @330 - bu their stake is large enough to mean that any bidder will have to offer 375 to win - and I don't see anybody offering that in the current situation. My finger is hovering over the sell button with a view to switching into one of the competition .......

Thanks for that Vulgaris. I haven't been phoned possibly because mine are in a nominee account.

I have decided to vote against. The market is telling me the bid isn't high enough.

I suspect if I overlay the SHAW price with ALD I'm going to find the same thing.

Bidder is phoning round trying to get holders of a few thousand shares, such as myself, to accept. And not hard to decline, as this Shawbrook is worth more than £3.30.

Up a bit more today and now 15p or 4.5% over the bid price. Volume good too.

Still not sure what to do or how to vote. 460k AT trade has gone through this morning at 340.5 which I guess tells us someone is still keen to buy at these prices
