Now you are just being mischievous unless you have hard facts to back that up !

There are only 19 cases of coronavirus reported in the whole of Tanzania.

Alangriffbang.

No it doesn't and quite understandable. This information is put together by an outside agency and who knows whether they have the staff available to finish this in time.
Maybe you haven't noticed there is a pandemic going on !

I actually think that short term there is a risk of the dollar strengthening considerably but long term, yes, I agree that it will weaken. Very long term I think that it is toast as its role as the reserve currency will increasingly come under threat. But we are talking decades there.

I think the $ weakness will amplify which IMO will help gold....maybe market will wake up to that fact....and that not all miners will be closing ops DYOR

Of course, the one factor also to be considered is who are the companies that will still be mining given coronavirus.

Better.

Long term, very positive. Short term I suspect that we will have another leg down in all assets including gold. If you look at GDX and GDXJ today they are both off sharply (as are many gold miners on the UK market) which often preceeds a downturn in gold.

My view is that there will be a very good opportunity to buy heavily in a short while. I don't think that we are quite there yet.

JC what is your view of the potential impact of the current level of money printing on the price of gold and the subsequent impact on the PM miners ?

Juju44,

You will give us a warning when you are going to make an intelligent comment, won't you? It would be such a shock to the system that I fear even those with strong constitutions may be badly affected.

Apologies for my last reply. I didn't mean to be so terse but was not in a position to respond more fully.

I think the retrace was purely down to the market being very jumpy. Any rise in gold/wider market attracts buyers but the first sign of a downturn results in selling. This is a traders market and we all know how bad at it most of those are. At some point there will be an excellent opportunity to ride the wave higher in gold miners but we are not yet in that 'mania' phase.
