From memory I think they said 8mil per year, so now that should be easy for them.

I ought to say that I do think that this is an appropriate thing to do and certainly makes the company as a whole a more stable platform for future growth.

Imnotspartacus,

Possibly and that does tie up with previous statements from the BoD. However, the new asset is going to require investment to move it forward and I suspect that is going to be a priority if a decision has to be made between it and returning capital.

Certainly gives them greater financial flexibility but the sooner we clear this the better in my opinion.

A year extension of convertible notes is good, whilst opening an option to repay it sooner.

Delaying the repayment could mean they could pay a divi this year.

Pretty predictable that they would kick the can down the road on these notes given the Barrick deal. You have to think that returning capital is likely to be delayed as well this year (with investment in Kenya given as the reason) unless there is a further significant rise in the gold price.

Just because it showed 2 large transaction of shares doesn’t mean the mm were not selling on other days all it shows was that the sell order was completed on those days.

Yet there is no sign of much selling at present. Remember R & M sold their shares in two large blocks on one day.

I don't think they are. I believe they issued the RNS after being notified the selling had finished.

Citi (C) just raised its price target on gold to $2,000 an ounce within the next 24 months, with analysts writing that the precious metal will remain “resilient during ongoing risk market rallies but a better hedge during sell-offs and vol spikes.

I don't think that it is surprising that business is heavily impacted when 500 million people are in lock down in China due to the virus.

Nice if Shanta can also speed up debt repayment... however, I don't mind delaying debt payment to purchase more good assets from Barrick again

For a company in such a sweet spot with such a positive chart to be so under the radar is surprising but if it carries on rising 1-2p a month I'll be happy
