20/11/2008 18:05 | Lovely. That's precisiely the right way to play this market. Quick and easy small turns on the stocks you know well. (And avoid letting the losses run!) | ![]() void concept

20/11/2008 10:30 | Onehanded.....some excellent observations. And congratulations. I think you've just got your 2.88. I too agree with the quality of this one. Indded I was amazed at the uplift from small fashion retailers the other evening whikst in Earlham Street (though also considered how many of these would be here in a year) As for take over rumours I think it's a tad too early. I am aware of the press rumours: Mike Ashley, Nick Kemsley et al (thogh suspect this mob bought at the top) As for the really smart cookies I believe they are either sitting tight or buying bombed out debt. With each day that passes I am amazed with the decreasing sentiment. So much apparant value but still the market falls. So maybe your averaging down strategy will work..... | ![]() void concept
18/11/2008 17:01 | Hi, thanks for joining the chat. It's holding £3 because this is the one of the best run companies. Agreed that the downturn will effect it (in the price now) but the new leases are usually for at least a 25 year term. Supply of new restaurants, particularly in the West End, is limited by strict planning and licensing regulation. At the same time, there is an ever growing demand from experienced and enterprising operators to open new ventures to satisfy the increasing popularity of "eating out", an important element of any visit to the West End. Anyone knowing the history of London knows the key areas for shopping and what makes London famous and these have them in the portfolio. Yes it will effect the top end but if the market looks ahead, this will and is a real steal for someone. Have a buy order in at £2.88, so don't mind a small fall to fill this. | ![]() onehanded
18/11/2008 16:46 | yeah great sector right now..NOT!! in my opinion, i'm afraid the market doesn't care what shb owns. amazing it's holding up at £3 | trader vics
18/11/2008 10:56 | Picked up a few at £3.07 today, could not help it! Results are going to be ok, better than expected but still showing a downturn. Tucked these away, have £2k left if if drops below below £2.88, next buy target for me. The company owns many shopping areas- villages' in London's West End, including the Seven Dials area of Covent Garden, Chinatown, and the iconic Carnaby Street area. Shaftesbury's business model is not merely about renting out space to retailers. It is choosy about which companies it leases space to, shunning high street chains. It also takes a holistic approach to each of its locations, improving not just the buildings but the entire area, with the result being Shaftesbury is able to drive rent rates up. | ![]() onehanded
13/11/2008 12:06 | If you wait too long you may find a bid rumour out. A lot of outsiders looking at the portfolio to pick it up dead cheap. Can't see it sub £3. | ![]() onehanded
11/11/2008 18:14 | Agree - though I'm holding off till sub £3 as i reckon it will be draaged down furtehr with sentiment. I've never heard a bad word said about this one. All the top people in the trade rate the management - all fit and proper top toffs plus an amazing portfolio. Frequently used as an industry benchmark for professionalism and integrity. | ![]() void concept
