UKCS only for me too these days. I can hardly open my eyes in the morning.

I suggest buying I3E. Cheap as chips. Have you seen what chips cost nowadays? :o

rogerlin - totally 100% concur.
Personally have pulled out of Africa and am not enamored by anything near Irish sea or north lot - Regarding Africa and Morocco (in no order and generalizing) - VOG, AFR, SEY, BLVN and a few others I would rather NOT mention.
Then there is PET who I think are still dabbling with some Irish potential drilling.
My other main play now is HUR. A fabulous play "if" as successful as it is being promoted.
Yup - North sea for me and nice thing about SQZ is that I seem to sleep well at nights compared to the list above I have suffered with for years.

Agree Rogerlin.

I am in favour of buying discoveries or producing assets.

Why bother with low cos drills in these remote locations?

The 1/06 licence is about 40km south of Corrib, is that close enough to tie-in? If not then a new pipeline to shore would be needed, after the Corrib saga no-one is going to take that on. The 4/13 Rockall trough is a gas prospect and seems a fearfully long way from anywhere.

Morocco was a failure. The latest two drills in Namibia, Tullow and Chariot dry which doesn't bode well there.

Best stick to Rhum and Erskine IMHO.

I hope they ditch These Irish licences. Have proved a waste of time for many companies.

Id rather they bought Jersey oil and gas or someone similar.

"Serica Energy to refocus on Irish licences in new year
07/11/2018 - 06:15:00

British exploration company Serica Energy has said it should be in a position to turn its attention to its dormant Irish acreage in the new year.

Chief executive Mitch Flegg said the company’s UK operations have been its main focus of late, but that it remains committed to its Irish interests and still likes its acreage here.

Serica has had a presence in Irish waters since 2006 and, in 2009, made the first oil discovery off the west coast in 30 years. It was awarded an additional licence in the Government’s 2011 Atlantic Margin licensing round, and last year won a two-year extension to find a funding partner for an exploration well at its two licences in the Rockall Basin off the north-west coast.

But Serica has struggled to raise interest in its Irish licences, partly due to them being costlier-to-explore deep-water assets.

The company has spent much of this year undertaking interrupted drilling activity in the North Sea and increasing its interests in local fields it bought BP out of in late 2017.

Mr Flegg, a former chief executive of defunct Irish explorer Circle Oil, said completion of its latest North Sea investments, due to close in early 2019, would give Serica more time to refocus on Ireland.

Serica’s UK investments have also helped to roughly quadruple its market value in the past 12 months.

That financial strengthening could allow Serica more room to manoeuvre on drilling costs for an Irish well. However, Mr Flegg said the company still wants to introduce a development partner.

The exploration company’s shares — which have traded strongly over the past 12 months — were up by around 4% yesterday."

and only one pub (that's if you can find it!) and no Wetherspoon's or Pizzas, you at least need a waterfront property there with a boat to get to Poole Quay or life would be boring

Peel at 157p looks like a good near term target as NS gas prices are strong currently

PS: I should have added. very rare to actually "sail" in the Med. wind is awful and always the wrong direction.

captainFC - totally agree. I love dinghy sailing. Sailed lasers but unlike you I don't sail the big boat professionally. I just sail the Med "for fun". Island to island, taverna to taverna with GnT in hand or a cold Efes or Mythos. You are right about stress. However, 20 years of it and tbh getting a bit bored and one Greek island (or Turkish) looks like any other after a while.

You'll feel bad about that decision when you read the news reports of us all getting marooned on sandbanks etc!

lol no thanks I have done it professionally before and it took all the fun out of it for me. Far to much red tape, worrying about this and that and everybody else. I've turned into a fair weather sailor now and am happy now to just muck around in a little dingy with the kids, maybe catch a flatty for supper and have zero stress.

I have a yacht for sale. It's in Turkey.
Quick sale. Say £100k. All proceeds to SQZ and buy another one in 2 years for £300k.
Oh if only life was that simple.
Any offers? lol.

Cheers on the clarification for that guys. Bounty thanks for the link should have guess you had posted it originally.

Been down on the boat most of this afternoon fitting a new cover, the upside was I found my favourite pair of sunglass tucked away onboard which I thought were lost earlier in the summer so chuffed to have found them.

Cfc, this was the link I posted previously on transferable tax history introduced for deals completing after 1 Nov 2018:

"The proposed transferable tax history mechanism will allow companies selling North Sea oil and gas fields to transfer some of their tax payment history to their buyers. This means that buyers will be able to offset the costs of decommissioning against the transferable tax history..."
