Dh, yes I've been through that after taking redundancy from a major investment bank, first 6 mths great then got bored being at home too much. Now I get paid a lot less but can walk to work and enjoy my job (most of the time!).

Of course that was the real reason (as well) why I didn't enter or start up cash balance competition becayse I had a 'feeling' there was more to come! (Ahem I'll get me coat).

That's a reasonable point of view, I guess I'm just conscious that the market is a fickle place (people like me are in it). Keeping hold of all your cash for that many years without rewarding shareholders can have a negative impact regardless of the long term logic. Either way, it's an exceptional company but I personally believe a well calculated minor payout would do the world of good without jeopardising the long term.

Yes cfc, agree with your earlier post that lots of hard work must have been going on behind the scenes to achieve what has been RNS'd today, what a great BoDs! Wish I could say that for the management of all the small cap O&G cos I am invested in, although this is rapidly becoming more of a mid-cap.

Abbot, The amount of cash we will generate in the meantime will be substantial... we'll likely complete additional deals, bring Columbus and maybe Rowallan online before the BP portions have ended. We will be an established profitable producer well before then, who doesn't need all of the cash it's generating...Hence I'm in favour of a bit of redistribution. :-)
