Yes it would be beyond absurdity to decline SQZ the waiver after this action today. I never count anything as a dead cert but i feel much relieved on the issue of this short term extension which will allow BP and SQZ to finalize the completion of BKR by Nov 1.

Discussions continue with OFAC regarding the conditions under which authorisation may be given for the provision of goods, services and support to allow Rhum production to continue beyond 4 November 2018.

Mitch Flegg, Chief Executive of Serica Energy, commented:

"Serica welcomes the new licence which ensures that production from the Rhum field can continue. Discussions with OFAC and other parties regarding longer term arrangements to protect this valuable UK asset are continuing and all parties are working towards a successful conclusion. The transaction between Serica and BP under which Serica will acquire BP interests in the Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields upon receipt of the appropriate licences is an important part of this process and we are encouraged by the issuance of this interim licence. Both BP and Serica remain committed to completion."

London, 1 October 2018 - Serica Energy plc (AIM: SQZ) announces that it has received notification from BP that the US Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC") has issued a new licence relating to the Rhum Field. The licence authorises the provision of essential goods, services and support by certain US persons and businesses to the Rhum field until 4 November 2018, replacing an existing authorisation which expired on 30 September 2018.

Certainly very conscious of the hurdles to BKR completion and even have some grey hairs to prove it.

I think my Bishops Finger post has been misinterpreted - that's in case things go wrong! All I'm saying is that things should be clearer one way or another tomorrow, I take the above posts colletively as light hearted banter that's all and no-one here is going to look stupid whatever happens.

There is a great chance for completion, but I won't believe it until I see it.

I'm holding back a bottle of Bishop's Finger in case I need it tomorrow evening especially after returning to work following two weeks leave. If there is no RNS I'll be quite happy as that means Rhum is still online! I feel it in my bones that there will be at least one RNS though just not sure what the contents will be!

FB winching and hiking out was ok when I was younger but I have seen the light and far prefer my Russian business acquaintances approach to blue water sailing. This involves a slow big boat with several athletic young blonde "nices" for crew. A snap of the fingers would bring a tray of freshly sliced fruit and a bottle of premium Vodka ice cold straight from the freezer.

I've fond memories of those days ;-)
