Endpoints reports Moderna’s mRNA candidate for treating methylmalonic acidemia, mRNA-3705, has been selected by the US FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research for the Operation Warp Speed START pilot programme, joining five other assets to benefit from expedited FDA interactions to support their development.

Nvidia, Wall Street’s favorite artificial intelligence darling, is continuing to swell to staggering heights.

The AI chipmaker’s market capitalization rose to $3.019 trillion on Wednesday, nudging slightly past Apple’s also $2.99 trillion market cap and making it the second-largest publicly traded company in the US by that measure, just behind Microsoft’s market cap of $3.15 trillion.

Nvidia is now the third company in the US, behind Apple and Microsoft, to cross that $3 trillion mark.

Shares of the Santa Clara-based chipmaker rose 5.2% to about $1,224.4 a share, while Apple shares ended the session up 0.8% at $196.

Those gains also helped boost the S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq indexes on Wednesday – both closed at new record highs.

Nvidia (NVDA) has been the biggest beneficiary of the AI mania dominating Wall Street this year; the stock is up 147% so far this year after soaring 239% in 2023.

ASML jumped 8% yesterday and 2% this morning.

Taking the share price to an astonishing Euro 965.


ASML has just leap-frogged LVMH and is now the second highest share as valued by market cap in Europe. The only larger stock than ASML is Novo Nordisk.


ASML now valued not far short of Euro 400 billion.

US close to deal to bankroll Moderna bird flu vaccine trial

FT reports the US government is close to finalising an agreement to fund a late-stage trial of Moderna's mRNA pandemic bird flu vaccine. The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority could provide funding as early as next month, potentially amounting to several tens of millions of dollars. The outlet says the agreement would also include a commitment to purchase doses if the phase-three trials are successful.

Cancer vaccines are finally showing progress

The Financial Times highlights the “promisingR21; use of mRNA technology in personalised cancer immunotherapies. Moderna and Merck's mRNA treatment for melanoma, now in phase 3 trials, could achieve blockbuster sales if successful. Additionally, the technology behind the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine is being applied to early-stage cancer research, with the University of Oxford and partners developing a lung cancer vaccine.

Blow-out Q1 '25 revenue figures released after-hours last night from NVIDIA with a big earnings beat compared to analyst consensus forecasts.

NVIDIA's share price was up 6% in after-hours trading yesterday.
