Had a phone call with the manager, basically learnt nothing. They may be in place until 9th September.

Is it possible they are stalling until after next week's AGM, to avoid negative votes? Am I being too cynical?

"Thank you for your email. I have passed on your email to the board of Scotgems and will reply with a more complete response in due course."

Sent a reminder email after a fortnight. Just sent another, after another fortnight. I don't regard nearly a month as "..In due course".

Anyone else ever had much luck talking to our management?

They replied same day a fortnight ago, to say the board would respond. But nothing at all from a chasing email sent on Monday. Could be Easter-related now, but seems odd to promise a response, and not deliver.

I see JEFI aren't even offering a rollover option - winding up & returning cash less expenses.

SGEM should take the hint.

Thanks for the update Spec. I would back a cash exit / windup.

Interesting to see FIXP trading above its Feb 24th level ... although the price is kind of theoretical, as Westerners can't sell.

Still not heard back from them, having been told the Board would get back to me "..In due course".

Hoping that means something is indeed going on, and they're delaying responding for that reason.

NAV back to 93p, not too bad.

Wonder what the shareholders have been saying.........?

steve, note the statement mentions nothing about shareholder consultation,
perhaps it does not need to be stated.

I was tempted to add a few more today, but could not do it -
that may be a positive sign!.

If they consult with shareholder's then I can't imagine the value houses pointing to anything else. Indeed anything else would be a little daft now.

Absolutely - but if that Russian purchase, and the end of the manager, aren't the final straw, I don't know what is.

Been promised a reply from the Board, but had nothing as yet.

spec, they arguably ran out of excuses even before this year.

I would be stunned if large institutional holders do not agitate for a wind up,
but markets consistently surprise so no guarantees on that outcome.

SGEM cumulative performance from the Feb Factsheet:

MSCI Emerging Small Cap +30.9%
MSCI Emerging Markets +21.3%

SGEM NAV -8.9%.

Share price performance far worse, but let's say they can't help what it trades at.

We should agitate for wind-up.

Well still hoping they call it a day and wind up, but it's hope that kills you!

33 stocks now trading again on MOEX, although FIXP not among them.

(There's also the small matter that foreign investors are not allowed to sell...)

So selling on an approx 20% discount gives a very nice margin IF they wind up.

If not then dread to think what may transpire, continued underperformace at a guess!.

Agreed, and instead of swallowing pride and buying US vaccines, they've persisted with their own, and not even particularly comprehensively. HK now the worst death rate in the world, and whilst it's highly populated, so are plenty of mainland Chinese cities.

Xi sticking to the total lockdowns, but can't control it, and can't let it rip for the number of deaths it'll cause. Next to no prior immunity.

Interesting times. China potentially bigger than Russia/Ukraine.

Meanwhile, FTSE well over 7k.

A bit a short covering I would guess.

One benefit of omnicron is the infection wave is very compressed,
like a roller coaster rising quickly and dropping very fast.

Problem is the way China are attempting to navigate covid very significantly
prolongs an infection wave, but now so transmissible it's like attempting
to control the tides - can't be done.

Good trade @EI - am sure you're right, you'd have been happy with that return in a month :) I just don't get the c.10% HK dcb last night, Omicron is going to get considerably worse, not better.

As now a holder intend only to make highly positive remarks on SGEM only.

That's obvs in jest, rarely that enthusiastic about anything I happen to hold.

spec, sold my SOI and AAIF trades from yesterday for a few shekels.
Finding markets very difficult to read atm.

I wonder when they bought Vitasoy?.

It's down nearly 20% over the last month, nearly 40% over the last 6 months.
