13/1/2022 00:26 | I think things will improve here. Covid weighs heavily and that will change for the better, as we are already seeing in U.K./USA. I had been wondering about individual country situations. Eg the recent election in Chile caused an immediate drop in peso and the stock market. But in fact, Quinenco stock price has risen over the past few weeks. | the millipede
12/1/2022 13:34 | An overdue twitch today. Noted re avoiding large cap/tech/China, but as all of those have been in the doldrums lately, surely SGEM should have finally performed better. Happy to sit on mine, in the expectation something will give eventually. | spectoacc
08/1/2022 11:47 | They have completely avoided large cap, tech and China, which have been major drivers of returns over the past few years. Investment managers replaced October 2019. Scotgems have not ever put it like this but others have: Recent returns have been driven generally by poor quality businesses and investment themes. High quality has suffered. IMO the stock picks are fairly decent now but all the businesses operate in risky jurisdictions. Eg recent election in Chile, with communists now in government, unlikely to be good for its stock market. Anyway, overall I quite like it and the discount seems a bit harsh. | the millipede
07/1/2022 12:20 | This will be celebrating its 5 year anniversary in July. On a share price basis holders have to date lost approx 30% of capital with No dividend payments - although many original holders may have long since departed. On a NAV basis still a minus figure, before taking account of inflation. Given a highly supportive market backdrop that is beyond dire imv. I suppose if you like contra sentiment situations.. What is the end game and is that nearing, or happy to keep collecting fees?. | essentialinvestor
16/11/2021 15:11 | Another small buyer here too. I have lost money here as I first ventured in IPO before selling out. My second attempt was a little better but I sold again when deciding there were easier ways to make money. Must be mad but I'm back again for a look. The tilts within the portfolio look and feel better although they need to as only out performance that will close that discount. Until and unless they give up and you'd think voluntary wind up will eventually dawn on a Board which should run this for shareholders. | steve3sandal
16/11/2021 07:59 | Discount now approaching 22%, looks crazy......... | chrisdgb
08/11/2021 16:09 | Added a few more. Pains me to chase when we're due a mkt correction, but that discount too big to ignore. | spectoacc
02/11/2021 16:09 | Glad to see I'm not the only buyer. Surely, surely their value bias has to come through eventually. NAV been naff for yonks (compared to eg MMIT) but 20% just too large a discount to resist for a longer-term a/c IMO. | spectoacc
21/10/2021 11:49 | Nice video update on Edison..... | chrisdgb
20/9/2021 13:02 | Tomorrow's NAV likely the judge of that.. But yes, pleasing to see the bubble China ITs take a beating, and the value stuff hold up (at last). | spectoacc
20/9/2021 12:43 | Very defensive here..... | chrisdgb
29/8/2021 08:29 | Scroll down to "Small can be beautifully cheap too" - ref Scotgems | mirandaj
21/8/2021 12:08 | Looked at this again yesterday and tried to buy a few, as the offer was just over 75 pence on an online trade quote price, decided the % spread was too high. | essentialinvestor
20/8/2021 14:38 | Ha ha good work @Epistrophy, tho per that RNS they seem both the same! Struggling to decide whether to add more SGEM atm. | spectoacc
20/8/2021 12:39 | Their strategy of avoiding Chinese big tech is looking quite smart at this point. | epistrophy
20/8/2021 12:30 | Yes I'm the reason for that RNS :-) (The "inc" and "ex" figures were the wrong way round previously.) | epistrophy
20/8/2021 10:07 | Intrigued. Anyone spot the difference? 03/8/2021 11:47 | Would love to know what the big shareholders are saying behind the scenes........... | chrisdgb
10/6/2021 16:06 | 1607 now over 13%....... | chrisdgb
10/6/2021 11:03 | Only because I probably have less history but discount creeping back out........ | chrisdgb
24/5/2021 13:43 | You are a generous man Chris as the performance here since SGEM listed is diabolical imv - and that's without any dividend. | essentialinvestor
24/5/2021 13:23 | NAV very stable given the 'choppy' EM action this year.......... | chrisdgb
05/5/2021 15:45 | 93.5p NAV, I'd def not be a seller at 76p. | spectoacc
05/5/2021 12:11 | Been very well supported, suggests action soon.......? | chrisdgb
28/4/2021 14:12 | Worth a listen ... | epistrophy |
