07/10/2008 07:17 | rogers you muppet- do something, you silly man, you laughing fool, to get these shares risingf, why don't you put out a statement? do something, its easy to sack staff, yer dimwit, its easy to close offices, cut back operations, we all know that yer dimwit. The hard part is, buildong your brand, building your business, improving your games. etc etc. Now, so far, you aint impressed me, coz all you have done is make the cuts - a job any fool can do, when you do something positive, the share price will go up. Until then it will continue to fall. | the crypt
06/10/2008 21:10 | pasta, no probs. In fact I'm going to quote my own post now... "If they are being paid lots of money by MS then this is probably good news. It won't exactly make Sony happy or make PS3 owners rush out and buy the game so I hope MS are paying them handsomely for this!" ...because there are a whole load of (okay, about 10) PS3 owners protesting on the forums and saying they've cancelled their pre-order because they are so annoyed by this decision. They are, as you can imagine, being ridiculed and pilloried but I do wonder if SCi could have saved this announcement until after the game was released! | darrens
06/10/2008 20:38 | DOH! - Sorry Darren, been way too engrossed elsewhere today... (and I've been a bit too eager to skip past the lol's too :) | pastasource

06/10/2008 19:44 | Nice to see them looking at DLC, I hope they're charging for it, won't amount to much, but will help increase TR's profile. Would have preferred if they hadn't gone exclusive to X360 (unless MS offered them $ for that): Eidos is to release exclusive Tomb Raider: Underworld content for the Xbox 360, amounting to around six hours of extra material in two distinct chapters. The first chapter, Beneath the Ashes, will be available over Xbox Live Marketplace this Christmas, with the second chapter, Lara's Shadow, due early 2009. "We're thrilled that Xbox owners will be able to extend their Lara Croft adventures with exclusive Tomb Raider: Underworld episodes," commented George Peckham, general manager of global third party publishing for Microsoft. "We look forward to continue working closely with our great publishing partners to deliver the most robust gaming experiences, only on Xbox 360." Tomb Raider: Underworld isn't the only high-profile title with exclusive downloadable content for the Xbox 360. New content for Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV is expected on the console before the end of the year. Tomb Raider: Underworld will also be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PC, Wii and DS. | pastasource

06/10/2008 19:05 | Fair point Darren, although I agree with the Montreal Head when he said that DX will attract talented developers, because it's a very good title to have on their CVs and has a lot of cache. It is reassuring that on first preview it does seem to have the wow factor on the visuals, but the gameplay will decides its fate. I hope they stay closer to the original because it did sell 1M copies on PC in 2000 and the whole market is a lot bigger now than back then. | life of crime
06/10/2008 17:39 | loc, the problem they have with DX is that the original was PC only and, to be honest, didn't sell in legendary status although it did sell well. DX2 they tried to make it console friendly and ended up alienating the original PC crowd and not especially attracting the console crowd. So, they have to tread a fine line with DX3 because they have to try and appeal to a new audience without killing off the original one. I think they are doing the right thing by making a new DX game but I really, really think they messed up giving it to Montreal to do. They should gone out to a few studios, asked them for ideas, concepts, artwork and so on and then given the contract to the studio which they thought could do it best. So I'm struggling to be optimistic about the execution although I support the decision to bring back the ip. | darrens
06/10/2008 17:18 | Darren, I agree re DX. The impact of the first game seems to have legendary status 8 years on, although it did win 35 gaming prizes at the time. Warren Spector has given his blessing but that's about it. I think he has set up his own development operation so is probably too tied up with that. Ever the optimist with SCi, I have high hopes for DX3 as they are staying true to the origins of the first title and learning from the mistakes of the sequel. This seems similar to CD's approach when they control of TR after the AoD debacle. We won't find out until this time next year at the earliest, when it comes out, and I suspect they'll have been snapped up by then. | life of crime

06/10/2008 16:55 | Eidos have announced there will be two episodes of DLC (downloadable content) for TRU exclusively for the Xbox 360. The first to be released in December and the second in January. If they are being paid lots of money by MS then this is probably good news. It won't exactly make Sony happy or make PS3 owners rush out and buy the game so I hope MS are paying them handsomely for this! | darrens
