Sir Keir Starmer is driving the UK into “irrelevance8221;, the boss of one of Britain’s fastest-growing healthcare companies has warned.
Dan Vahdat, chief executive of global healthcare firm Huma Therapeutics, said years of high taxes and a permanent aversion to risk had made the UK an increasingly uncompetitive place to do business.
Huma, which worked with the NHS during the pandemic to help monitor Covid patients at home, is one of dozens of technology “unicorns̶1; in Britain – a start-up with a value of more than $1bn (£800m).
However, Mr Vahdat said he was spending increasing amounts of time in the US, where Huma has announced a tie-up with pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Mr Vahdat said the world’s biggest economy had a better work ethic and deeper pots of cash to grow his business.
The entrepreneur said he knew dozens of people who had left or were planning to leave the UK because of changes to Britain’s non-dom regime, reforms that were started by the Tories and but deepened by Labour.

Ivy given the opportunity has Lockjaw
Lozan given the opportunity discusses Inanaco

But 'Reform' isn't Trump. Reform, a 'puff of wind' ? We'll see. |
But for me, Reform, atm anyway, is a puff of wind. That's it, ATB
suppose it is ... that is why Trump never got elected

these numbers may be right .......... but could you trust the conservatives ..
and that is the issue for them
Kemi Badenoch has warned that taxpayers could face an “astronomic221; bill of more than £200 billion because of Labour’s failure to tackle mass migration.
The Tory leader said that Labour’s “lax approach” would see Britain carry on subsidising low-paid foreign workers and their dependents.
Mrs Badenoch was responding to a think tank report which found households face a long-term bill of £8,200 each to fund extra services for 800,000 recent arrivals.
The Centre for Policy Studies has calculated that more than 800,000 migrants who came to Britain between 2021 and 2024 could permanently settle in the UK.
It said the cumulative bill for the extra services and benefits they required, compared with the taxes they would pay, would come to £243 billion over their lifetimes.
Mrs Badenoch said the findings showed that Labour needed to take action to “end the conveyor belt to a precious British passport”. |
Tf There is no body else and your "economic policy" that you supported is in tatters which leaves Vote liberal get Europe, Vote Labour u get incompetency, Vote Conservative and that gets you "one nation" (centrist left leaning) and all three are "big state" high tax.
The state needs Musk, worth watching Yellowstone Season 5 i think they saw Musk coming
the state is out of control, and your pensions are at risk !! don't fool yourself that an economy in a tailspin can recover easily. The bank of England is last resort but you cannot print your way out of it for long. soon Cometh the taxs ..(april) ridiculous electricity bills, up to 10% on the rates with a shrinking tax base
The bank of England slaughtered them in its report .. And the BBC seems to keep it off the news
"stagflation" will eat away value at the inflation rate !
gone has the days of £1.60 to the dollar and 64 Baht to the £
now of course every one with wealth is spending more time on avoiding tax you can't invest or you will then hit double taxation and they are not small numbers if you also add in Fiscal Drag.
oh and Lammy is of to the Caribbean to open up compensation talks !! i just hope labour work out some time that "its not there money"
Handbrake turn will come ... they are on the edge and just like at chernobyl labour are playing the game "counting lives" via a triage NHS
i think the biggest example of waste must go to NHS scotland who pay approx £8 a prescription for paracetamol, in the telegraph the other day
and all that from somebody who is an optimist
if your Pessimistic by nature ... ouch! |
Hi Inan,
You enthuse about 'Reform'. I agree with the need for sweeping change but I doubt that Farage and Tice are the answer. Watching them in Parliament this week they looked distinctly lightweight, to say the least.
As I said before, IMO anti-incumbency is driving the popularity of Reform atm but I doubt that this will last. Makes one look wistfully back at the days of Boris does it not ? (That's for all his faults!). The Tories certainly look marooned at present.
Just one from me. ATB |
have a good weekend ....
lets see the thread that Ivy can actually create .....
on balanced posting
the problem, if you are pig ignorant .. !!!!!
well we will see |
AstraZeneca's (AZN) US sales for the fourth quarter of 2024 were $14.89 billion, a 24% increase from the previous year. This was higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $14.28 billion. Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (“CVRM”) product sales increased 17%. Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) segment increased 28%. Vaccines & Immune (V&I) Therapies sales increased 55%. all sold to a dead beat economy ....
by "act of God" the US will collapse ... Turkey the charterist
The United States accounts for nearly one-third of AstraZeneca's (AZN) sales. In 2023, AstraZeneca's US revenue was over $19 billion. |
The big winner scancell ? What ? Inane is completely in cloud cuckoo land.. . The only thing he's taught himself is how to take excessive risk ..and be a loser.. . Dollar stock ? Follow the US.. What a clown....being led to disaster by an even bigger clown than himself..m |
oh so why does Baby Buffet Gloat about his winnings ?
"look at me"
and why are you so obsessed about why and how i invest if it has no effect on you |
By what deluded thinking makes you think I would ever want to be like you or that there is anything about you that I would wish for. You really are on another planet. To be clear I am perfectly happy with my life so why would I want to spoil that. I can assure you that there is nothing about your life that would enhance mine so why don’t you just accept that you are wrong once again. |
No Ruck ....
read the posts ... again
you may understand them ...
but probably not
nothing i can do about that
ATB |
if i was to say what is the most widely used drug in the world in oncology has to be Chemo

Ivy it took one post of yours .... just by asking it ....
"so what is good inflammation"
to put you in the embarrassing position of being "pig Ignorant" |
my advice ........ Don't take advice, it costs loads, but if you teach yourself its effectively free
what is immunotherapy .....
well read my posts then "peer review them"
if you can see something works
