listened to the Radio interview very interesting.
Anyone interested in hearing it. It is about 3 and a half hours into the broadcast towards the latter end.
I think the locals are concerned mainly with the size of the project and hectares involved. Mining itself has been in the area for donkeys years but on a small scale.
Last paragraph of inbrackets covers the refining plant which could find support from other lithium mines in and around Europe or further afield.
The Portugues government should pull their finger out and get on with the permits.
The life of the mine at the moment has a life span say of 15/20 years. By that time everyone should be driving electric or some other ways to propel a car.
The opposition admits it would create numerous jobs, but those jobs lost by the locals now would not be able to return to their jobs which they held before, due to the opening of the mine.Industry loses and makes jobs all the time due to progress and inventions.

Looking at the options available in Europe, you would seem to be answering your own questions and reaching similar conclusions though I have to say I am not sold on Inf.Portugal has a tremendous opportunity that circumstance has offered with the resources it is blessed with and its geographical setting. Europe is ready to support financially but only if the population wants it. Now whether that is the wider population or much more local is down to the country to decide not the EU. As far as size goes, MdB doesn't need to be the biggest in its own right. It already has the potential to increase and lengthen the LoM and there are other deposits elsewhere that could come on stream over the coming years to support the refining industry as demand rises as predicted. Will SAV be involved in those. Who knows but I would hope so especially if they are recognised for what they do at MdB.

Here's the link to the radio interview from about 3hr 35mins:

It's about 25minutes long.

My understanding is that the biggest gripe from the lady was the mine life. Well it's one of my concerns as well. She also was worried that the biggest lithium deposits were in Portugal.

Well yes there is more lithium in Portugal, Serbia has more but Mina do Barroso isn't the biggest project. That's at Cinovec. Of course Savannah's grades are some of the best anywhere.

Well if she's worried about the mine life and she thinks Portugal has the largest amount of lithium, then why doesn't she support the expansion of exploration?

IF Archer is correct and most locals support the mine why not just let them get on with it?

I actually think she's a shareholder in SAV. Well she was well aware of the constant delays!

Incidentally there was a feature on British Lithium in Cornwall on Click over the weekend.

HG thanks for your earlier post.

hi (inbrackets) thanks for your response, no not Rodney or Howard here but I do follow them. I am aware of Vulcan and the Cornish project but they are both geothermal which seems a long way off at the moment? European lithium (Austria) is quite a small deposit and underground and Rio Tinto are so big i'm not sure they would see a big upside if their project in Serbia came off?

I've got stock in SAV as they look the most like Piedmont and i'm looking to get in to Infinity for the same reason. In terms of refining in europe I found AMG-nv have plans for a lithium hydroxide refining plant in Germany, are there any others I could look into.

Its good to find somewhere to discuss this stuff!

On reflection, I doubt it otherwise you would be aware of Vulcan in Germany, RT's long term hopeful in Serbia and the deep mine granite deposits in Austria, not forgetting early days in Cornwall. With no refining capacity in Europe to speak of, would be inclined to follow where that is eventually placed as a possible indicator for the likely source of raw materials as CO2 footprint is an important factor. There is the first Iberian Lithium summit in early Dec and both Inf and SAV feature. Might get a better understanding of the aims from that and SAV is well down the EIA process so would be well placed if refining capacity in Portugal is forthcoming. Recent interview on Times Radio, the CEO said that refining would not be in China which implies capacity would be available in Europe and that has to be sooner than later.

Hi im doing some research on lithium projects in Europe. From what I am reading the most promising look like Zinnwald, Savanah, Infinity and EMH. I was wondering what people think of these. Are any of them more or less likely to get off the ground? Am I missing any?

How many of these interviews has he carried out , what is it 20/30 , and he has never achieved one stated objective , so clearly he likes the sound of his own voice.

ARCHER must go, he's holding the company back, he is indecisive, lacks charisma, he's always jibbering in his answers during his interviews, either that is because he has none or he lacks articulation. He has been living lavishly on our money for long enough! Step down archer, and stop making a fool of yourself.

Not doing any community work here on the ground in Portugal as advertised, that we can tell you. The highly sensitive task has been delegated to some local post-internship freshers. ^^ Whenever Paul leves his nice gated community apartment in Lisbon we'll keep you updated.

Apologies read the following wrongly.

Subject: Lithium mining in Covas de Barroso
Answer in writing
In 2017, Braga-based Slipstream Resources Portugal Unipessoal, Lda, a subsidiary of the Australian company Savannah Resources, bought a feldspar and quartz mining licence which the company Imerys Ceramics Portugal had held since 2005. The licence covers an area in Covas de Barroso, a district in the Boticas municipality, Portugal. Savannah Resources turned the prospecting and mining licence into one for lithium — allegedly without carrying out an environmental impact assessment — and significantly expanded the area of activity. The issue lies with 66 boreholes in an area of more than 600 hectares, where an open-pit area more than 400 metres across and 150 metres deep has been identified. The entire region has recently received global agricultural heritage status from the FAO.

Has Slipstream Resources Portugal Unipessoal or its parent company, Savannah Resources, received or applied for EU support? If so, were all the environmental impact assessment rules followed?

Doesn’t sound as though this guy is from Portugal with a name like that. Say again you need a country man to push this through. One who understands fully the objections and can overcome them with an acceptable solution agreed by both parties concerned. A foreigner has no chance even if he does speak the lingo. Locals will not trust him

Sorry to see you leave, Highly Geared. As I said earlier I sold most of mine some time ago and the return on that money has been in excess of 400%. I will keep some and if the opportunity presents itself I will trade it.

Reba, SAV have only been at Mina do Barroso since May 2017. I have wondered why the Feldspar and Quartz haven't been mined to give some income. I'm not sure if I've had the answer to that.

Paul O'Donohue speaks Portuguese and he was brought over from Mozambique some time ago when they were waiting for Mutamba licences. I'm not sure where he is at the moment.
