Rio will go elsewhere (blue Jay) imo.

This is just a lifestyle company, if they are lucky they will get some free money from the eu

License means sweet nothing at this stage , once a deal has been announced with RTZ then maybe there will be some serious interest to invest here , and what about Lithium , are we still asleep on that venture also.

You're right in what you say IB.

This is extremely good news but look at the reaction. Great damage has been caused over the past year and investors have lost trust. This sort of news would have put 10-20% on the share price Today we have 2% and very little volume.

This is a world class asset and we now have 2 out of the 3 mining licences. A lot of reparation needs to be done before trust is restored.

Can't help but think that Rio Tinto will be looking at Africa in general and be thinking why bother.

They also are working on the Dundas (also Ilmenite) project with Blue Jay which is in Greenland a somewhat safer location.

I know that time cannot be taken out of the equation but if it was, then all the progressive steps have completed positively. With the licences in place, that puts things firmly into our/RTs hands and I look forward to seeing what happens now.

"We are delighted with progress thus far at Mutamba"

Really David Archer?

Look at the share price Look at the time scales given in 2016-17 and then tell me you're delighted.

Hopefully third one before Christmas. Then will be interesting to see what they do as all of the focus up until now has been on Portugal. This one in a way is more advanced than Portugal now...

So at long last we now have a mining licence granted on one of the four concessions. Hopefully we can get on with the PFS now.

Today's Times, GM getting serious about EVs and putting their money up to prove it. More of the same please, from Europe's big auto makers!:-

General Motors is set to build one of the world’s biggest electric vehicle battery factories in a $2.3 billion joint venture with a South Korean chemicals company.

The partnership with LG Chem initially will make batteries for an all-electric pick-up truck that is due to enter production late in 2021.

The battery factory will be built near GM’s recently closed assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. Construction of the facility, which will employ about 1,100 people, will begin in mid-2020, the companies said.

Traditional carmakers are stepping up their electric vehicle capabilities in response to the threat posed by Tesla, the world’s largest electric carmaker, and in anticipation of booming sales in China, which aims to take all petrol and diesel cars off its roads.

GM, valued at $50 billion, is the largest American carmaker by sales, producing vehicles under the Chevrolet, GMC and Buick marques. Most of its sales are in the United States. Mary Barra, 57, its chief executive, said yesterday that the battery venture would accelerate its plans to introduce 20 new electric vehicles globally by 2023.

GM’s decision to build the battery plant on home soil is likely to find favour with President Trump, who has demanded that American carmakers build new factories in the US. GM closed its Lordstown assembly plant last year, with the loss of about 4,000 jobs, in a move condemned by Mr Trump.

Shares in GM closed down by 0.3 per cent, or 11 cents, at $35.31 in New York last night.

Interesting article below. Come on Rio Tinto, give Savannah a nice big wedge of cash for Mutamba. Or better still take a 25% stake in Savannah resources, pocket change for a major like you!

From the article you posted in 2538:

In the same interview, the official stressed that he was waiting for Savannah to present the Barroso Mine environmental impact study to move on to a “serious discussion” with the Australians, who will be the refinery's raw material suppliers. This step too is getting closer and closer. Savannah officials reveal that the environmental impact study, as well as the project's Mining Plan, are “almost completed” and are due for presentation by January 2020. The Ultimate Feasibility Study should be ready by first half of next year.

I suppose you could read that as December but this is SAV!

From the October newsletter it only mentions October and November drilling. Perhaps it had finished by the time of the interview.

Savannah asks for the understanding of the entire community of Covas do Barroso to the resume of drilling work at the Grandão and NOA (Alto da Misarela). The works began in the early days of October, and it’s intended to continue drilling for the EIA completion surveys and it has been limited to Savannah lands. These works will continue during the month of Novembe.Savannah is available to provide any clarifications the community deems necessary.

Well at least some drilling was (EDIT) going on. October newsletter posted in December!

If they kick it into enquiries this might be bad for SAV shareholders, but it will be even worse for Portugal and any ambitions it may have as it would be like stalling on the grid and very difficult to regain any sort of position. At this time they need to give maximum support to their first project, make sure that it sets a high standard for the rest to follow and then make sure they do. They have to bite this bullet and do it whilst they can.

think the SAV lithium equation also needs to include - public enquiry, costs, new battery technology. A public enquiry would add another two years onto the production timeline and just as the next recession kicks in

And based off the guaranteed walk in park bankers of Oman and Moz that were lauded here for years and i think the Christmas tipples may have come out a bit too soon for some.

Always good to be optimistic, but without a dose of realism and one soon becomes blind to the facts and slips up by falling in love with a share!

I had to laugh when I read the comments in the tweet about solid state batteries.

Believe, could, should.

Words which could be applied here as well. It's about time they delivered something substantial.

SAV touched 1.9p back in September and, if it's forming a double bottom or bottom pattern of some sort on the share chart, it may go there again, but if 2020 is going to be as good a year as it seems from EV sales, given the raft of exciting new cars coming out, then I'd want to be in SAV sooner rather than later....

The lithium price is likely to be higher by the back end of next year as inventories are worked off and the SAV share price up with it.

One of the big boys, Jianqxi Ganfeng Lithium, (30% owner of Bacanora etc) has gone up from 870cny on 1st Sept to 1760cny today so there are signs of early movement in some and a bottoming out in many other lithium shares.

Of course, this all assumes that SAV navigates its mine in to life without major hinderance...

IMHO

We don't often get the chance to say anything positive since the placing but there's been a few buys today and the share price has responded.
