Many Lithium shares seem to have quite established bottom patterns forming and some have started the upward spike. Just bring up the Global Lithium X ETF (LIT ETF) to see the upward break from a 2 year long downtrend, which broke upwards on 1st Sept 2019. Most bottomed in early Sept but some are still forming that bottom pattern three months later.

One of the biggest Lithium players, Jiangxi Ganfeng, has gone from 870cny on 1st Sept to 2070cny today as the most obvious riser. Other big players like SQM and Albermarle are only just starting to tick up after bottoming for 3 months, which we may be seeing in SAV too, though as a smaller player I don't necessarily expect us to be amongst the earliest risers.

I think the second half of 2020 could be quite bullish for the lithium price (and, therefore, most lithium stocks). I hope SAV manage to gain strongly from that by things generally going to plan within their own business i.e. EIA approval, DFS, Construction Financing, Offtakes etc. Plenty to do, but we didn't get killed by the 2018 / 2019 lithium price downturn, unlike some.

All IMHO.

Portugal will happen , might be a slow ride though , Auto majors in the EU are already talking of possible supply issues by 2025 , so all to play for here .

I wish we would power forward in Moz. We've got the offtake agreement with Rio, just need to start mining. The anti lithium mining sentiment in Portugal worries me - you only need one Swampy to put a spanner in the works for months on end.

roll on 3p only currently 47% down.

Still wish DA would get sacked. 2p rights issue when the shares were 5p is a disgrace.

Jotoha, I don't get your point in this case. The options were issued in March 2016 when the share price was about 2p. These are the last of the cheap options. However in general I do agree that the option price should reflect future success and therefore be much higher than the price when issued.

Paleje, I agree with IB that it is better to exercise now with only 2 months left to expiry than when news arrives.

EIA and further metallurgical results expected this quarter/half.

Cheers Ged. The only reason usually for insiders exercising at above market price are either to get quantity or to buoy up sentiment. Neither seems applicable here so I don't understand it.
Nice to see a blue day though.
Thanks for the info on the power usage by the way.

Directors who issue options close to historical lows are there to line their own pockets without any real effort or results , now if those options had been issued at 12p , then you would all have a reason to celebrate . Lifestyle Directors are everywhere achieving zero for AIM holders.

Unfortunately not a hope in hell on that prediction - market cap of £90m based on what exactly?

Still everything top play for in Finland though!

Hi Ged, 6p is certainly possible by July (with a bit of luck though!)

Thanks IB. Happy New Year to you.

I think the interesting point is that the options have been exercised at a premium to the market price. The next options final date of exercise is July this year at 6p a 140% rise from today's price!

Sorry Ged, I was replying to your earlier mail and had not read the RNS detailing the price. Doesn't alter the comments though however the tax loss issue may not be applicable, the timing issue I think might be pertinent.

Ged,Share options are just that, an option. They allow someone to buy a a pre determined price should they decide to. If the price drops to below the exercise price, there is no requirement to buy at that stated price and it is effectively by agreement. Looked at around mid price between actual traded price and exercise price. Unlike the problem faced by MMc with a tax bill, exercising at a notional loss could actually be advantageous (certainly was for a client of mine during the dot com era when things went badly wrong). Also doing it now is prior to any news rich and perhaps more positive share price period, and avoids any difficulty in exercising the options during a closed period due YE accounts / news prior to the end date.Ps a Happy and hopefully once, ,Prosperous New YearRegardsB

Peter Wise in Lisbon 5 HOURS AGO

High in the hills of northern Portugal close to the border with Spain, the remote village of Covas do Barroso is in the grip of what local media call “lithium fever” — and a clash between two conflicting visions of how to protect the environment.
The fervour in the village, a short walk from western Europe’s largest lithium deposit, was triggered by government plans to establish the country as Europe’s production hub for the metal, a critical component in electric vehicle batteries. David Archer, chief executive of Savannah Resources, the UK-based company developing the nearby lithium mine, is confident the project will help reduce Europe’s carbon dioxide emissions and bring “overwhelming social, economic and demographic benefits” to a poor and thinly populated area. But many local people are determined to halt the development, fearing the mine will scar the landscape, pollute water and disrupt the sustainable farming on which the local economy depends.
“Mining is too often a parasitic investment,” said Catarina Scarrott, a spokeswoman for a local movement opposed to the mine. “They take away more than they give back.” More than a dozen anti-mining groups have sprung up across northern Portugal, a region whose lithium deposits have sparked a “white gold rush”.
Scores of prospecting licences are being applied for and an international licensing tender for lithium exploration is due to be launched early this year. The government expects the five most promising areas to attract about €3.3bn in investment. Lisbon plans to lock into an EU drive to advance European production of electric vehicle battery cells by building a lithium refinery at the northern port of Leixões, creating “an end-to-end lithium value chain” in Portugal. All Europe’s battery-grade lithium is at present imported from outside the EU. “Our aim is to go beyond simply mining lithium and create a whole industrial cluster that will put Portugal in the lead in this area,” said João Galamba, the secretary of state for energy.
The rush for mining rights, however, has sparked anti-lithium demonstrations, petitions, social media campaigns and heated parliamentary debates. At issue is not only the future of local communities, but also a belief among many campaigners that electric vehicles are not the best way to reduce CO2 emissions. “We will need to generate more electricity to power them, which will almost certainly lead to the building of more coal-fired generating plants,” said Renata Almeida, who represents an anti-mining movement near the Serra da Estrela mountain range.............

Let us know if you get an answer please GED, doesn't make sense to me exercising at that price unless it's meant as a vote of confidence.

Emailed the company about the price paid for the options.

In the last Annual Report the exercise price should be 3p expiry date March 2020 not 2.76p.
