Just out of interest...

Amazon has just purchased 8 brand new B767's freighters from Boeing.

By the end of 2022 Amazon hope to have a fleet of 85 B767's freighters, they have bought all of Qantas and Delta's B767's to convert into freighters.

Computer bots don't understand "underlying" profit before tax

Sainsbury's will be reporting negative statutory EPS for 2020/21 after covid costs and paying back B rates imo

Didn't Tescos do well starting the payback of business rates... big curveball for the sector

Still,,, once we all have the vaccine in our arms by the summer we can all go back to restaurants, pubs and start flying again. So supermarkets with thin margins while protecting market share, will have a tough competitive environment on reducing like-for-like sales in 2021/22

Over a year ago Amazon paid just £293 million in tax to UK coffers.Margaret Hodge said Jeff Besoz's "failure to pay tax on his profits is utterly obnoxious. The company deliberately uses opaque financial structures to export profits to low tax jurisdictions."

Didn't he do well out of Covid 19?

Rishi Sunak are you listening?!

It is high time that the UK government imposes a digital tax on American tech giants. It is unfair that Sainsburys/Argos is not on a level playing field with Amazon. The government is suffering inertia in rectifying this anomaly. They should wake up as this is an additional means of raising money in our hard pressed economy.

Yesterday I used ChopChop. It's the modern equivalent of the corner shop - prices are highish, range is limited, but my word it's useful if you're in a bind! As standard online delivery orders have to be made several days ahead nowadays it's easier to run out of things than it was, so ChopChop could prove quite useful. I don't see it becoming a significant element of the business, though.

chopchop App is still in roll out phase. It does inner London but outer London is not yet done.... Nor Surrey. I suspect its got a long way to go - but it does look good!

Yes it's a novel idea the customer actually covering (some?) of the cost of delivering their order.

The order goes straight to the local store who pick it then they contact local curriers who deliver it by bike or car.
