Hardly any meat in my local Sainsburys this morn at 6am open

certainly no Fresh Turkey available

I guess the online shoppers have it tucked away somewhere

I'm sure Tesco will have some, when I go there instead

The way I see it, ARGOS is about the only toy shop open in the UK (you pay online and pick up in the store).

All supermarkets in UK mobbed. I cant see any ending to this story that does not end up with Sainsburys making bumper profits this year.

Also ... anyone who thinks this new strain of the virus is not already circulating throughout the whole of Europe, is clearly a very special fruit and nut job.

spod: we stopped all transport to Denmark when they had the mink covid strain.
I think you're being a bit nuts about this.
Your sainsburys posts are great by the way.
Dont let the nutty brexiteer out.

" The decision by France to impose a travel ban prompted anger in Downing Street, with some in Number 10 of the belief that Paris is using the border crisis to try to force Britain to cave in during Brexit trade talks "

No really - Surely the french would never resort to such childish behaviour. I mean we have never seen such childish behaviour by the french in the past .... have we ?

don't care for the french drivers

that is the responsibility of the french bureaucRATS

produce from spain can come from santander on ferries

which is much better for the lorry drivers

as they don't have to drive through france

and can sleep on the ferry instead

spod: French drivers will want to go via france - you being a bit silly - its not france v uk. Why do brexiteers always look at it one against the other.
I hate that way of looking at the world.

In an office those that play that way: 'me against X' are always the worst types ... Dont be one of them

it's all a bit pointless anyway

as with everything else, it won't be policed properly

and those who are caught exceeding the new quotas, will probably just get a small fine, which they won't pay

as we all know, the current situation at the ports has nothing to do with the virus

the french don't like brexit and they are showing it

boycott all french goods

produce from spain and other goods can be imported via different routes in the long run

just takes a bit of time to sort out

down with france

According to EU sources, the British demand for a 60% reduction in the catch by value in British waters had been reduced to 35%, far closer to the 25% reduction that Frost’s EU counterpart, Michel Barnier, had said he would be prepared to accept.

As we saw before panic buying is only beneficial initially.

When the stock is gone it’s gone

Extra demand can’t be met in full

I mean if the public really start panic buying the supermarkets can never meet that demand

Not geared up for it

I suppose you could argue that ARGOS is now the only gift and toy shop open in London:
You have to pay online then pick up at Sainsburys.....

Supermarkets urge shoppers not to panic buy after Christmas bubbles collapse

The British Retail Consortium urged people to shop responsibly

Online supermarket delivery slots full

Royal Mail parcels not delivering

Non-essential retail closed

Stay at home means need full cupboards as not travelling to relatives, etc

You can count on London and South East panic buying before Christmas and Brexit IMO

imagine that, Brent Cross and the other big shopping venues to be shut down for christmas week (apart from MKS and waitrose obviously)

who would have thought

people will buy more not less

all other shops shut

things ordered by post will come too late now

so argos and in-store general merchandise should do exceptionally well this coming week

On balance its neutral for Sainsburys.

More people will shop at Sainsburys (no other choice) but they will buy less as
less people coming for christmas.
