Were they to hit 800 and have that restriction still in place then they should stop selling.

That assumes that they have only made certain rooms available on the ship to make 800 spaces available.
That would make no business sense whatsoever.

Scottish007,

The figures are from snapshots I took on the relevant days from the web sites availability search - so not official in any way, but a 100% accurate reflection of the availability the company is showing.

Your calculation is top-line cabin availability:
148/554 = 73.29% cabin occupancy. That is correct.

My 63.1% represents pax occupancy.

In your example of 143 twin and 5 single cabins available:

Pax bookings available = (143 * 2) + 5 = 291.

Current maximum pax occupancy of ship during Covid restrictions = 800.

This gives a pax occupancy of 509, representing a 63.63% occupancy rate.

Scottish007,

You're welcome.

No limit on cabins per se - only on total pax. The 2 may interact of course.

And a new Brazilian variant of Covid .I think we can safely say the ship has sunk and won't be sailing till 2022 at the earliest.

Are you saying that only 80% of cabins are made available for forward bookings?
That would be a strange way to operate.

Glennglad I off loaded CNA with a very healthy margin. My average 32p. I can't see one person here getting a healthy margin out of SAGA.The majority are nursing losses.

CNA also down 3%. So what? STUPIDINVESTER can only afford CNA with his benefits money so why bother being here. Oh I know, Because he's a SHORTER

ScottishYour numbers look okay.I'm not too bothered at this stage about bookings, although obviously important, IMO it's more about will they sail on time and at what capacity (booked doesn't mean they will actually go, they may be tested positive).Cancellations/refunds - if for example someone cancels their booking 14 days or less from departure date then they do not get any money back at all. Unless that is that they have also paid for the optional travel insurance cover provided by Saga.So looking on the positive side, C19 has provided additional insurance income for their travellers.

the difference between a cruise and a lot of other hospitality / leisure events/destinations is that the passengers and crew will be known well in advance and can be vaccinated/tested etc. so if no-one on the ship has got Covid you cant catch it.
On a normal holiday you will be exposed to the masses and if pubs or restaurants open up 1) they will be packed and 2) it is logistically not possible to test all the customers in advance .
