A complete aside but an indication of how Covid-19 is impacting.

Paul Pogba, he with the Italian agent who uses Pogba's transfers as a cash point running into millions, has been nothing but trouble for the last 18 months, as his agent has tried to persuade Manchester United to sell him, at a knock down price, to either Juventus or Real Madrid.

This morning Pogba has announced that all of that was a big mistake and he wants to commit to a future at Manchester United.

Interesting info - Norman Smith says that Alison Rose was one of the important women attendees at last Thursday evening's Downing St Reception, where Nadine Dorries was already feeling unwell. Another attendee was Rachel Maskell MP, who has been told to self-isolate by NHS 111 and is doing so.

Meantime, no other attendees are known to be isolating, from the PM down and including various Cabinet figures. Big question going unanswered on that at present.

What is early morning for you is mid-morning for me, hence I have a couple of hours to study the markets whilst most in the UK are asleep.

That said my son in law, an investment banker in the City, gets to work by 6.00am every day.

Leedskier, you need to be a lot earlier to catch the worm. When I posted at gone 2am this morning ftse futures was 60p plus.
Maybe you should go further back in time. Lol.
How about last month when RBS was at 223p.

cfc1, will simply re-invest the dividend on my existing holding but one can't help be incredibly bearish given the Corona virus. Aviva for example is 10%.

I most certainly wont be buying anything until the GDP growth rate is clear, which could be negative in the coming quarters.

Have you noticed the reaction to a 200billiom stimulus plan. Ftse at same level as projected overnight. Clearly no one now has any confidence.

Tomboy, completely correct.
Interesting to see how many SMEs can produce their own cash flows. Even if they can, on a short term basis how do you establish what your sales will be if Coronavirus doesn’t slow and lasts longer. Even if in 3months sales start improving and approaching where they should be for some of the SMEs conversion from sales to cash could be a further 3months if not factored. Your talking about banks acting as lender of last resort for over 6months with little to no data on a best case scenario in isolation.

One thing is clear the market is going lower and the Corona virus will get FAR FAR worse. Nearing 120K cases in no time. China and Italy imposing order on their citizens is going to impact the world wide economy. Who else is next to declare citizens remain in their homes? No wonder shelves are emptying out.

The rate cut is like putting on a plaster to a gut shot wound.
