Obscure security linked to stock volatility plummets 80% after hours, sparking worries of bigger market effecthttps://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/05/xiv-exchange-traded-security-linked-to-volatility-plummets-80-percent.html"Even a spike in volatility similar to August 2015, would force VIX ETFs to buy an incredulous $37 billion exposure in short-term VIX futures."

Nice!! Dope bet you thought it was never coming...lol

Smurfy this is going to take a month to sort out...would be very cautious today..then an equal rip your face off short covering that may see new highs..if not all bets off..;)

Leeds you better revise that 6% it's closed -7% over two days...was certainly headed towards 10% during yesterday...avalanche of risk rehashing underway...

Quite what this has got to do with the FTSE which is back at Dec 2016 levels I do not know - just a little bit of overkill especially given huge rally in bond markets

WOW DOW down -1000 points in the futures market.
FTSE down -200 points.

Time to panic and run naked in the streets?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average has plunged by nearly 1,000 points in the biggest one day falls since the financial crisis.

Leading US stock market index is down 4% at 24,484.15.

Monday's sell-off surpasses a 777.68 points drop on the Dow Jones on 29 September 2008 when Congress rebuffed a $700bn bank bailout plan following the collapse of US investment bank Lehman Brothers earlier that month.

Panicky selling on Wall St, with the Dow -1,600 not long ago, now bouncing. FTSE about 150 lower on IG, from today's close.

Leeds, it has been an interesting decade. I have learnt a lot and enjoy reading this BB and the Barclays one, even though I am not invested in either of those shares.
