19/4/2017 21:35 | Should the next Chancellor give taxpayers free RBS shares? JAMES QUINN Premium article in the DT this evening. Anyone subscribe? | polar fox
19/4/2017 13:03 | What timing! Boy George is quitting as an MP. | polar fox
19/4/2017 12:16 | Polar agreed! Gcom2...that's why we need to get shot of Brussels!! | cfc1
19/4/2017 11:56 | w+G is pretty well sorted , albeit brussels wanting 1.5bn instead of the 750m previously estimated | gcom2
19/4/2017 11:52 | Well, you just have to look at the big picture. Boy George was the guy who decided to replace Stephen Hester with a flightless Kiwi. He was also the guy who brought a Canadian in to head the BoE, and his pronouncements and decisions have led to credibility leaking away, to such an extent, that many in the City are simply waiting to see the back of said Canadian. BTW, the consensus dividend for 2018 is still currently close to 10p. | polar fox
19/4/2017 11:45 | still need the DoJ fine and W&G sorted before selloff but potentially good news. We need some serious lobbying behind closed doors between May's bunch and Trump's to get this done. When fine announced it will be a buying oppty as no doubt the DoJ will ask for 50trillion, shares will drop badly, then - like DB, they will run back as realistic settlement is reached. That's assuming Ross boy has balls to fight back - like Barclays CEO did!!!! | cfc1
19/4/2017 11:40 | In a near zirp world, why does the gov need to sell? | maxk
19/4/2017 11:35 | The chancellor should admit that partly the reason for the taxpayers loss is the government themselves. | gcom2
19/4/2017 11:26 | GIven they have already sold a stake at a loss no idea WTH BBC are going on about? --- The chancellor has admitted for the first time that the government is prepared to sell its stake in Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) at a loss. The Treasury bailed out the bank by buying a 72% stake for £45bn, at 502p a share, at the height of the financial crisis in 2008. Shares in the loss-making lender are now trading at less than half that price at 223p. Philip Hammond told MPs on Tuesday: "We have to live in the real world." | smurfy2001
19/4/2017 11:05 | possibly true Smurfs ..but still I believe this share price is massively undervalued. Or am I just an optimist...no answer needed - been holding for +9 years so must be!! | cfc1
19/4/2017 10:36 | lol divis even if they pay probably only 1p | smurfy2001
19/4/2017 09:39 | DoJ/Senate Some progress in Washington. When they return from the Easter recess next Monday, the Calendar has two definite full Senate confirmation votes lined up for Monday evening, namely, Perdue at Agriculture and, now, Rosenstein at the DoJ. But not Rachel Brand, yet. Will Rosenstein run with the fine? I rather doubt it, it falls under Brand's responsibilities. However, her confirmation still looks on for either side of May 1. We can probably anticipate her getting a first sight of the RBS file reasonably soon, therefore. | polar fox

18/4/2017 17:35 | “We have to live in the real world and make decisions on the future of our holding in RBS in the best interests of taxpayers.” best interests of the taxpayer LOL !!!!! thats why they've levied, over regulated and fined this bank into the ground the last 7 years!! | gcom2
18/4/2017 16:09 | There is a correction in play with the FTSE100 miners. GLEN and BLT (BHP) both off 5%. and all because the £ has jumped 2 cents against the $. | leedskier
