Absolutely - I just topped up a fixed rate ISA, which I opened last summer, simply because it pays about 0.35% more than is currently being offered! Desperate times indeed.
Ditto for switching a 'surplus' current account simply to take advantage of another bank's incentive package i.e. cash bonus, 5% Regular Saver, interest and fee-free overdraft and such like.

Still, I cant help being annoyed at the state the world is in when savers have to scrabble around for a pittance.

As a current account holder (one only, but wanting a second), they sent me an email this evening reaffirming all the original terms of the deal that caused the stampede and subsequent "pause" on opening new accounts. So it's 3% guaranteed for two years to April 1 2019, on £3k. I immediately thought they must have ended the pause, but no, they haven't, at least not as I type this.

It's crazy - if they do lift the pause, there will just be another mad stampede.

If you're still interested, I suggest you check their C/A page at least a couple of times every day, including weekends. Like me, you will want to be at the front of the rush!

It happened just before the US markets closed, so a little bit of a relief rally, although the DOW still closed down about 60 points. Trump-haters in the US media really putting the boot in!

For all the bluster and noise from the politicians, it's true that silicon-valley is the breeding ground for our future.

In that sense, Trump, Brexit and any election is, for now at least, a side-show.
