balldeap when this is goes over 250p and stays above I will consider that a recovery may have started. I expect it will get the usual slap tomorrow on the never ending provisions for the acts of a very few people 10-15 years ago.

But this breaking news in the Ft most certainly will help

Nissan will build the next generation of its Qashqai SUV at its Sunderland plant, the company will announce on Thursday.

The move is a major vote of confidence in the UK following the Brexit vote and one that will fuel hopes that other carmakers will choose to keep production in Britain.

Absolutely ...;

The FT has posted a commentary, which focuses on the fact that the Services Sector now accounts for 80% of the UK economy, notwithstanding that financial services has shrunk by 10% since the 2008 crash.

The services which have grown range from law to architecture to management consulting.

Jungle Jim's manufacturing company may be experiencing growth, but sadly it is against trend. it is not so much what Britain makes in its factories, but with its brains that is underpinning the economy.

No help for Sunderland man then!

Service sector grows, everything else shrank

Britain’s service sector, which makes up three quarters of the economy, is the only part which grew in the last three months.

Service sector output grew by 0.8% in July-September.

Construction shrank by 1.4%
Agriculture shrank by 0.7%
Industrial production shrank by 0.4%
And manufacturing (part of production) shrank by 1%

Ed Conway @EdConwaySky

So much for rebalancing. UK Q3 GDP growth entirely driven by services sector. Everything else (manufacturing, construction etc) shrinking
