As I understand the rules in play, in the City (unlike in New York) insider dealing is when some private investor buys shares having received a tip from his next door neighbour about some rumoured bid for a company the neighbour's cousin works for. The receipt of such information within the City is just part and parcel of the perks of the job.

interesting to note Lloyds put aside another £1B for PPI I guess RBS will as well! anyone do the maths re % of biz RBS do in the US vs Deutsche which might help us guess size of likely DoJ fine???
