but not so much money to a wealthy investor who has a diversified portfolio i guess. Down 6 cents in OZ in spite of a bounce in oil price .

hi poo bear ,
just follow ROC at present but hold none and trading range in OZ too small to trade it . Closed at 65 I see after hitting 60. But weakening oil price not helping it and just a sideways pattern on chart with , sadly, possibility of hitting 48 to 50 cents area again where support level is . But could just as easily head to 80 again if oil price starts to pick up . I just trade currencies at the moment through spreadbets as much easier to pick intra-day trend and make a bit . Have a nice weekend .

Banda not likely to be production tested for another 12 months or possibly more.

Mauritania both on and offshore remains a challenging area for exploration and production imv.

More bad news today.

ROC have achieved significant production increases at Zhao Dong, share price has been marked down accordingly in Oz.

RNS follows this morning.

Finger in the air calculations:-

Six production wells in Banda oil field producing 11,361 BOPD (ROC net 369 BOPD) - say new well produces 2,000 bopd, then ROC gets 100 bopd.

GG,

no real information on quantities has yet been released but as current well is a producer it must be in worthwhile quantities to go ahead.

A rather 'dry' update unless you're a geologist. And isn't ROC's share less than 5%?

Where have all the English shareholders gone? Not a word for sixteen days, even Banda update could not bring forth comment.

"Drilling Update: Banda East Appraisal Well, Offshore Mauritania
12 NOV 08

Roc Oil (Mauritania) Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of ROC, advises that as at midnight (local time) on 10 November 2008, the Banda East-1B appraisal well, has reached a total depth of 2,716 mBRT, and acquisition of wireline data has been completed.

The preliminary results of the wireline logging, Modular Dynamic Tester (MDT) pressure testing and sampling indicate that Banda East-1B intersected an 86 metre gross gas column, with 22 metres (26%) net gas pay and a 19 metres gross oil column, with 7 metres net oil pay (37%).

The fluid contacts were in line with the pre-drill expectations.

The Banda Oil and Gas Field is in approximately 300 metres of water depth and spans PSC Area A and PSC Area B.

The forward plan is to run the final casing and prepare for gas deliverability testing. There is no plan to test the oil leg at this time."

Good result, but for the furure it seems.

Whats going on, the big rise?

Oil to $70, share price up another 20% and a largish director buy.

Fair value coming back into the equation perhaps?

Still got some bought in the 40's

Morning arja, yes it is volatile, but ideal to trade in and out, even with ROC if you apply a two or three day rule.

Director buying overnight.

Can't see the share price around this level too much longer but the influences are as you indicate imo.

I am looking for a drop in the price of oil today, I won't worry if it does not happen, I can wait for a new defining trend to appear short term to allow another short term trade.

Meantime there are others out there to play with.
